Sorry for the tangent; but, I'll never understand someone selling a gun that they only shot 100 rounds through. Seriously? It's a G17 ...

I bought handguns that did not have 50 rounds down range. Not everyone is a shooter.

a while ago, I bought my first glock 17.

The first day I bought it I put about 300 rounds down range.

not sure how the seller managed, but I'd buy new anyway. For a $30 difference I'd rather have it factory new backed by warranty.

$400-$500.....at that price you are paying for a 9mm that will last you a life time and at most you may have to replace a few spring for less than
$20. Not the worst investment you could make. Even with fixed sights, you could learn to keyhole shots at yards. At less than 500 rounds, id say that gun isn't even broken in yet

Used glock 17 gen 3 are going for $399.99. All day. Just had my friend pick one up for his first gun. Used LEO 17 are $299.99 to $325.00

Can you tell us where in socal we can get a used g17 for 325?

When it comes to Glocks, it's "cheaper" to buy new than used here on CG's.

Everyone's free to buy any gun at any price if they find a seller willing to sell on those terms.

Having said that, the $499 Glock here in California, for most of us, is a Gen 3 Glock (or the equivalent in cases where there are not 4 "generations") that comes with a box, two magazines, and a magazine loading tool. With 8% tax and DROS, the price becomes $564 (some pay even higher tax rates), and many a dealer adds $10 or more as their fee for doing the DROS.

Many of the Glocks I see for sale here on Calguns for significantly more than retail seem to be LE or people who took advantage of SSE while the going was good selling Gen 4 Glocks that are not available to us unwashed masses other than through PPT. So if you really want a Gen 4 vs. a Gen 3 this is your only way to get it; and I don't blame those sellers for marking up their purchases (probably many of them only bought the Glocks for profit anyway).

Many of the remaining high-priced Glocks come with extras that the owners are including with the base Glock in hopes of recouping their expenses: magazines, holsters, ammunition, after-market sights, extended magazine releases, triggers, grips, extended slide stop levers, springs, guide rods, custom smithing, etc. Sometimes these extras are also built on a Gen 4 Glock.

Finally, people who price their Glocks by looking at what others are selling them for, but who fail to distinguish their Gen 2 from a Gen 4 and their Glock with just one magazine from one with extras, utterly overprice their handguns by any definition.

To be fair a out round counts.mi have one coworker who bought a Beretta 92 20 years ago, based on the idea that if the Army tested it, it must be reliable.mHe then put it in his closet and has never fired it. Another coworker bought a Kimber 1911 maybe five years ago. He went to the range with me and fire a box through it and I doubt he has shot it again since.

Now ... These guys are not calgunners, meaning their interest in firearms is extremely low and they have them "for emergencies" ... Assuming they even remember how to load them. Your typical calgunner wont even let a new gun reach home from the store without a trip to the range and 100 rounds.

Glock fixes lowest advertised prices for their dealers at $499. You can buy then brand new non leo down to $476 with store logging to Glock for approval during a Glock sale. Still have tax plus fees. Don't pay for a storage fee. There's something that just feels weird about it to me when only 10 percent of dealers do it. I just bought a 19 yesterday off CG for $400 w/5 mags a case, two holsters and a second molle mag bag...Chinesesamarai is a great guy. The deals are out there as it was in excellent condition. Although it was heavily frog lubed and while I took that as a caring move, was wondering if really necessary for a Glock. So deals do come up but you have to troll the new posts....4 replies for "I'll take it" inside of first 4 minutes posted is not unusual. There's a tip section for search tools built into extensions in Google Chrome that may help...oops secret.

We live in CA so there are additions to the price you need to factor in.

1. Sales Tax on new guns (around $40 bucks on a glock).
2. Convenience of freeing up your 1 in 30 slot for new handgun purchases.

The 1 in 30 is probably the biggest reason why buying used for something like s Glock is good.
