My main reason for not wanting a .38 Super or even in 45ACP, I just don't want to stock up on another caliber; especially caliber I have to buy online. I don't own safe queens, I shoot all my guns.

But I guess this is too much of a deal to pass up....now I got to sell other stuff to fund this one.

If u decide to sell the barrel and slide assembly let me know I'll buy it off of u. I could pay for your conversion kit.

OP, if you knew how much a Colt 38 super in CA is worth(especially if it's blued) you would have already purchased it. Buy it and save the parts that way if in the future a 9mm 1911 comes up you'll buy it, save the .38 super and make a buck off of it. Definitaly do not make a franken gun off of it, if you buy the 9mm conversion parts don't sell the .38 super parts.

If it's a recent model like the slide is marked series 80 or more recent you can at the very least get $1300 off of it. If it's older the possibilities are endless.

Thanks for the info. I'm pretty sure it's a newer Series 80 model, purchased sometime after 1996. I would never part out/sell the original parts if I converted it to 9mm or even do any permanent modifications to the original parts to convert it to 9mm. I rather keep it all original and resell it before doing any permanent modifications.

All you need is a 9mm barrel and recoil spring. The .38 super magazine will work fine for 9mm. I've done the swap myself.

I absolutely love the .38 super. I started my love affair with an old Colt .38 automatic pocket model and worked up to a government model in .38 super. Blue dot powder works great for .38 super.

Thanks for the heads up. So there isn't any permanent gun smithing I will be required to do? I don't mind gun smith work on the 9mm parts, just want the OE parts to be left original. I recall reading about something on the barrel link? and extractor? what about the barrel bushing?
