Colt 1911 Gov't in 38 super on the fence

I have the opportunity to buy a Colt 1911 in 38 super in blue.

Seller is asking $600.00 in good to excellent condition.

My issue is it's in 38 super and I don't want a 38 super pistol. How hard is it to convert it to 9mm and is it worth it. I know RIA sells 9mm conversion kits for it's 38 super pistols, but I rather use Colt or better parts. Also will it require permanent modifications for the conversion, I don't want to devalue the pistol; should I decide to sell it in it's original form.

    Thanks for any info

Buy it now and decide later. That is a great price and you can easily flip it for a nice profit.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Is there a link to the sale or is it not on CGN?

It's a "Friends" special, he's not on Calguns and not really a fanatic of firearms to go on forums. He also won't sell it to anyone he doesn't know personally.

I would buy it if I were you. For the conversion you only need a barrel and probably a new recoil spring to handle the 38. I don't believe the conversion is permanent, that is all you need. And if you ever decide to get rid of it, I along with many other members would be happy to take it of your hands.

$600 Colt .38 Supers don't fall off trees in CA. You'd be a fool to skip this one. Even if you don't want it, I guarantee you won't be losing money if you sell it.

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

Have you thought about buying it and just leaving it in the .38 Super configuration? It's a caliber that actually was used in older 1911 guns (unlike 9mm), and it has a pretty interesting history. Here's a little bit of info on the round:

That is a great price. If I had the money I'd easily pay $800

.38 Super is a great round and that's a helluva great price for a Colt.
