Gotta love price gouging. Hopefully nobody actually pays that. Those guns sell all day long in the free states for $599. I realize the only legit ways to get them here now is via PPT or IFT so demand greatly exceeds supply, but if you want a great 9mm that bad, there are other options which can be easily obtained in CA (well, if you can find them that is). CZ 75 P-01 anybody? The SP-01 is constantly at the top of all 9mm "best of" lists as well.

Thanks for all the feedback. I actually have a very good sense and have good knowledge on how all this works- google+military background, forums and guns shows helps lol. I only posted this since I know how hard these firearms are hard to get. You guys are really cool for giving out some feedback.Comment

OP lives in SGV, and if the SP01 is shipped the transfer fee would probably eat up most of the savings from buying used. And since he's in SGV he's not too far away from Jamie, which has them for $750 OTD. Not trying to shill for Jamie or anything, but they do good work; I've bought a few things from them when SSE was available. Besides the fact that its a house and not a store, which is kinda weird they run a pretty good business.Comment

What would you guys lean towards PPQ or CZ 75 Sp-01?Comment

SP01 is the better value, free night sights. Also its more verstile, you can dump as much money on the SP01 as you want and the performance increase will reflect that.
-$500 Shadow slide - removal of FPB(+FPB activation on the frame) which if done at CZC will decrease your slop as well as pre-travel
-$461 CGW Competition package with race hammer +$80 for an extended safety
-Maybe a Bar-Sto or CZC Match fit match barrel
-Dovetail cut to accept target sights
-Awesome grip selection
-etc etc
That being said, the majority of people are content with just an SP01 + CGW Competition package a larger number keeps theirs stock and shoots it until its smooth out. You can do that as well, however you won't get the race hammer or the special CGW sear.Comment

What is it for?
SP-01 for competition; if you like to tinker or do upgrades, the upgrade paths available for the SP-01 are exceptional. PPQ for carry. For the range, either one is fun. For HD, get some beater gun that you don't mind losing. Don't chance losing your prized stuff to the evidence locker.
Personally, I really love the way the CZs feel and I like the weight, so I'm biased toward them. However, since I already have one, I'd probably get the PPQ for variety.
Or... get a used P-07/09 to have something that sits in the middle ground between your metal/hammer and polymer/striker choices.Comment

I've got both, and love them equally if for very different reasons. I'd be comfortable with either for HD, but I use another pistol that is easier to replace in CA.NRA Lifetime Member
