    Yup.

S&W had every incentive to add the extra round themselves, it would have made the "specs" even better leading to increased sales. So why didn't a capitalist company not try to squeeze another round out of the mag?

Therefore logic dictates that their engineers chose not to for a reason (reliability or some other down sides).

I appreciate that you've tested this with many rounds, but I'd really advise against this for serious use (duty, ccw, etc) pistol. Remember KISS - keep it simple stupid. Is it really worth it for that one extra last round? For practice/range mags, go nuts!

      I agree with that.

It seems like a great idea, and it seems to work fine based off OP's use- but after viewing their video I don't know that I'd trust that follower design. It's seems to me that they have gone backwards in the follower design, looking similar to the older stamped sheet metal variety.

Seems like it would be great for range use- but like someone stated, it's almost the price of an OEM 8rd magazine.

      P.S. Why hasn't someone developed a +2 to make a 10rd.

          Agreed.

The price point and the questionable design makes me steer clear of this for a serious use carry pistol.

interesting product, seems to do what is says it will and increasing capacity isnt a bad thing in anyone's book.

I don't think so, they have not created one for .40 yet.

The more users out there the more I hear good things.
Time will tell if it's as reliable as a stock mag but so far so good.

Has anybody seen anything negative about MagGuts? I haven't run into negative reviews about the kits in my internet searches.

I've used them and haven't had any issues in my S&W BG380 or Shield.

I'm sure they're not that well known out there, and whenever you have somebody like the OP bring them up and show them off to people, you get the fair amount of people that always say "why didn't the manufacturer do this?" or something like "I would never run this in my guns" and stuff like that.

Therefore, you don't see as many reviews because people are too scared to try them, or don't want to try them at all. For the people that you do see using the magguts, it's pretty much 100% positive things said about it, and lots of people will usually post up their reviews after thousands of rounds through the mags (from what I've seen on other forums).

I just installed a maggots kit (heh, heh...) on my 7 round magazine for my Shield 9mm. I've manually cycled the gun a dozen times with HDC ammo fully loaded +1 by racking the slide and feeding all of the ammo through as quickly as I can cycle the slide. 9 rounds! Nice! No feeding issues so far! I've even rapped the gun at the front of the grip on a semi- hard surface to rattle the rounds forward in the magazine and they still feed just fine so far. I'll keep everyone posted once I get in some range time...

Sounds like something I'll be ordering soon.

I have used mag guts in my Shield for a about 400 rds now and have not had a single issue. Thanks to the OP for bringing this up. I too was reluctant to post because of the standard responses. If man were meant to fly he would have had wings.
I will report if I ever have an issue.

I have six kits in use. Two in the 7 rounders and four in the 8 rounders. All have worked flawless through two different Shield 9's. The 7 rounders have approx 500 rounds through them and the 8 rounders have over 1000. Not in each of course. Figure 250 a mag....

Anyway, they have been completely reliable. As for the comment on the follower. It is my belief that the Gun Manufacturers went to plastic followers because they're cheaper to make reliable, not more reliable over-all. Just my opinion.
