Any recommendations for an FFL in San Diego for the transaction? I have heard some are less enthusiastic than others about handling PPT.
While I have never used them due to being 4 hours away, my first choice would be North County Firearms. But, they are not in SD proper.

Gunfighter Tactical on Miramar is great. I have never had a problem at Turner's on Clairemont Mesa, as long as the store wasn't packed.

The other thing that helps with PPT is that the buyer doesn't pay sales tax (like on consignment), which makes whatever your selling price is more attractive.

Individual sales - consignment is the worst - $$ and time wise, PPT is the way to go, but is more work. Consignment - you (or buyer) are paying the gunshop, the buyer is paying tax (10%) and there is no timeline. It might sit in their shelves until they say enough and send it back to you.

CALGUNS for sale (PPT sales) is the best for guns that are not extremely rare - which is 99% of what is sold here.

For rare, expensive guns - You might make more with less work by going with an auction.

I don't know where you are from, but there is one in Orange (Little Johns Auctions) - they sell high end guns 4-5 times a year. But I have not used them, but if I had a rare gun, or older, that's the way I would go.

You can call them and ask - no downside.

        Just another option.

        .

Quite true. Whenever I go down to see a gun, it is because I know I am going to buy it, due to how it was described on the wts thread. I'm not going to waste my time or his.

I think it depends on how badly you need money and what you have to sell. If you are strapped for cash a private sale will net you more money, but you have to deal with the hassle of the idiot factor.

If you have guns that are in demand and will sell quickly private is best. If you have weird or hard to market stuff you may want to let it set in a dealers case so more people get to see it.

For me, consignment all the way. I would rather lose a percentage and not have to deal with lookey-loos, morons, low-ballers, no shows, etc.

I don't know where in Sandy Eggo you are but there is a great mom and pop shop in Fallbrook that does a ton of consignment sales. Cal Custom guns.

You can sell the Glock 41 here fairly quickly.

PPT not only nets you more money, it actually increases your audience size when you post in the marketplace. Consignment limits you to the customers of that particular shop that happen to actually look in the consignment case that day.

I'm not familiar with Bryco, but you should be able to sell the other three on here for more than you would get from consignment pretty easily.
