I have a PM-9 a PM-40 and a P-45.

I can make you a great deal on the P-45. LOL.

Why? A sub compact 45 is not a great idea. All that force in a very small gun makes for a whole lot of kick. It is not fun to shoot and took me a whole lot of shooting to get good at. I have big hands which helped on the P-45 and hindered me on the PM-9 but still the P45 quickly got replaced as my EDC with a M&P40c.

Go with the PM-9 unless you want to save some dough in which case I'll gladly sell you my P-45

I purchased a Kimber Ultra CDP II recently as a potential carry gun and do not find the recoil to be that bad. Definitely more peppy than my Citadel full size but not that bad. Now I'm 6' 5" about 225# so I'm a bigger guy but I enjoy shooting both. If I shoot the Kimber for about 30 minutes solid, I will start to feel it, but strength and conditioning can help with that.

I forgot to mention that the PM9 trigger is as smooth as butter.

Long and smooth like a er well never mind.

It is the only polymer framed gun that I own.

To the OP I'm happy you enjoy my posts.

I have shot every gun that I have mentioned.

No joy in shooting even the heavy .45 compacts.

The .45 bucks like a mule and a box of ammo will leave one with a sore wrist.

Plus they are heavy and the ammunition is heavy.

The PM9 is GTG and 9MM is less expensive to shoot and not as snappy as .40SW.

If something larger is needed the the CW9 comes to mind. I might need one of those too.

Here are the hits at 7 yards with the Kimber Ultra CDP II this last Sat. If u hit like this with a .45 Cal, the problem is certainly solved.

not a fan of kahr. Their machining of the slide is great. The polymer sucks and the magazines just horrendous. GL with buy.

Saugustine, your perpetrator will not be standing perfectly still, facing you, while you stand perfectly still, taking your sweet time to pull the trigger.

The discussion was about handling recoil in general. I think as a Vietnam veteran I understand what it is like being in life and death situations where people are shooting at you trying to kill you or you are going through mortar and rocket attacks on a regular basis.

That is why you practice both for accuracy and then practice under stressful situations, learning to control your adrenalin. We trained to identify targets and engage them at various distances. I consider my range time as training for accuracy and learning good trigger control. My next step would be to work on a moving, shooting competition type setting that would help with the type of reflexes you are talking about. Don't asu,e that I don't understand the difference when you know nothing at all about me.

The point I was making in my last and previous post is that a .45 is an effective round and the recoil can be mastered with practice even in a 3" barrel 1911-style weapon.

This has probably already been said as I didn't read all the replies. Shoot both of them and if you shoot them almost the same, go for the .45. If not and you don't feel comfortable shooting the .45 then go with the 9mm. Shot placement is still king IMO.

I had both and shot both very well. I ended up selling the pm45 because I found myself carrying the pm9 a lot more. It is smaller and handles great on the range. i needed about 100 rounds through it before i felt it was broken in. Nice shooting gun, then one day I sold the pm9 to fund something else. Well I was lucky enough to be able to buy it back and won't sell the pm9 again. My favorite little 9mm

Thank you for providing photographic evidence that it is indeed possible to shoot 5" groups at 7 yards with a 3" .45 auto.

Yeah, pretty poor shooting, I admit. But that's not the gun's fault nor is it because of the felt recoil. I shoot about the same with my full size 1911 and with my sister's Glock. That's why for the last year, after I took up shooting again, I am at the range regularly. I want to significantly improve my consistency to make those groups a lot tighter.
