You can't go wrong with Springfield. If its a little out of budget look into Rock Island. Either one will be nice and have a solid warranty.

I voted Springfield. What is your budget?

What's your budget? $1k gets you a nice 1911. But jump to $1500 and you have some nicer options. Then at $2k get you semi custom 1911s. There's RIA at the lower end $500. Performs as well as guns 2-3x the price but that craftsmanship isn't there. Rally just depends what you want in a 1911. I might opt for hte cheaper RIA as you can sell them and not lose as much if 1911s aren't for you. If you do like it then save for a semi custom.

I second a RIA if funds are tight, or if you want more cash for ammo.

You may also want to compare full size and commander. My first 1911 was full size but it was only after i finally got to try out a commander sized 1911 that i knew full size wasn't ideal for me. My preference is commander length.

There is a guy in Sacramento that has a S&W 1911 light-weight commander for sale here. I'd look that up and give it a look. Light-weight commanders are the sweet spot for me. YMMV.

At this point without SSE I'd get a springer based off of warranty or sig. RIA's can be nice but I've never shot a worked on one.
But if you can find an Sti grab it. Lol

Well with my $1000 I bought two of these RIA'S First is a compact 1911 and the second is a New Commander that just came out and is the Ultra SE MS but is not on the roster. My father lives in Nevada and he gifted it to me...

Springfield Loaded is the way to go. I would replace the FLGR but otherwise it's gtg.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the listed options. Springfield, Colt, Sig, Kimber, RIA are all solid choices. Look for the options you like in your price range i.e Springfield Loaded, Kimber Custom ii, Sig TTT or Nitron Railed, Colt XSE are all similar in price but may have different options available (checkering, night sights, rail, fcs, etc).

I recently just received my first 1911 as a birthday gift. I wanted to buy the Springfield MC Operator for myself but ended up receiving a Kimber Custom II TLE. I am happy with the Kimber (even though the interweb says it will rust and fall apart) and I like the front strap checkering that specific model offered over the other 1911s in a similar price range. I will probably still buy an MC Operator sooner or later, or maybe a stainless TRP, or both!
Thanks, and as we say in Spanish,
