    Need quick 1911 advice

    Hey gang,

Here are some requirements I have for my next 1911:

    Series 70
    Mil Spec
    No slide front serrations
Has to be on the CA roster
Preferably a forged or carbon steel slide and frame

I have a pretty good idea on what my options are but I was hoping for some quick suggestions from the CG community to make sure my bases are all covered.

    Thanks.

        A) Springfield Mispec - as close to series 70 as you can.

        B) Colt 1991. - this one is a series 80.

Those seem to be my narrowed down choices.

Truth is I want a decent base gun that'll fulfill certain "wants" in my collection that I will soon have customized to my specs.

Not a fan of RIAs (my buddies own some) and I reload 45.

I'd go with the SA Mil-Spec. It's a good base gun for customizing.

SA milspec then, they're only around $650

be aware though that they glue in the ejectors in the new USA made models

I was going to suggest the Remington R1 but just checked and not on Roster.

What's your issue with the RIA?

                        could be nothing.

i usually try not to have the exact same things as my buddies.

                        kind of weird, i know.

Rock Island Armory or the Citadel would do!

Oh? Please elaborate... Glued in ejectors? Can that be modded to be better?

ejectors typically are pinned, SA glues them in with some type of loctite.

some guys say it never comes out, some guys say it comes out easy.

it's supposedly an FBI request, so they can repair failed ejectors in the field

but if its pinned properly, it won't come loose anyway.
