I personally soing ever buy a python, because I just couldnt afford one or afford to keep and take care of it as it should. But my buddy has one and they are NICE!

I told him about what they're worth. We looked in a gun value book. Even at gun broker. I told him he could get much more. But he has had it for 40+ years and doesn't want to just get rid of it to any person.

I'm guessing Rick Grimes/walking dead caused these things to be even more popular and harder to get recently? I've never even heard of a python (im not a revolver guy) or seen people talking about them until the show. And since that show started I see tons of posts about everyone wanting one and how hard they are to get etc.

Just an observation.

I family friend offered to sell me their 1969 or 1970 (they aren't sure) Colt Python for $1500. I went to look at it and boy is she purty. Said it only has had a cylinder ran through it! Gun looked brand new.. What do you say?

Just buy it. Don't wait, stall, hem or haw - or second-guess. If you are making the deal better for him, so be it, but I still have a feeling you'll come out ahead.

That would be the price of a beater/no box, well-worn/well-shot stainless 6" that looked to have been under a car seat for 25 years.
