    Purchase Python?

I family friend offered to sell me their 1969 or 1970 (they aren't sure) Colt Python for $1500. I went to look at it and boy is she purty. Said it only has had a cylinder ran through it! Gun looked brand new.. What do you say?

Sounds like the gun is 95% or better. These are hard too find and they are expensive.

I doubt you would find a better deal on a Python as nice as you say it is.

    Good luck.

Offer them 2300$ and see if they'll take it

If it's in the condition you say ... then they maybe even can get 2500$

Some may say these prices are high ... but I say 'if someone wants a really nice Colt Python, especially from that year ... they will pay good money for it' and don't need a box to get that price.

Check the serial number for the year of manufacture.

And please post pictures ... please

Swing the cylinder out and it is located on the hinge where it meets the frame.

Please go to your friend and get pictures ... we will wait ... GO...!!!

That's well below market value if it is in that condition. Post pics when you buy it.

It will be a few months but I plan on it. He wants to sell it to somebody he knows wont turn around and make a buck off it.

Okay look ... here's the dilemma.

He's a friend and he wants to sell you his Colt Python; a 1969 or 1970 in 95%+ condition for 1500$

                          That is an unbelievable price.

The problem you need to ask yourself is, is he a GOOD friend and does he know he can get near a 1000$ more than what he is asking form you.

Some deals are good deals, and some are a steal ... this is one of those 'steals'

Do you tell him? - Is he a friend-friend?

I had this situation happen to me with a berretta FS92 - He asked for half of what it's worth. When I showed him market value, we settled on a price close to market value and I still got a good deal. Plus, kept a good friend I have known for 50 years.

I told him about what they're worth. We looked in a gun value book. Even at gun broker. I told him he could get much more. But he has had it for 40+ years and doesn't want to just get rid of it to any person.
