Don't worry about the metal composition of your gun. Get the CA legal CQB. It will serve you for the rest of your life. Take some shooting classes, shoot some matches.
I have to agree. Even a Californicated Wilson is head and shoulders above the rest

What you do is when you order the gun, you also order the upgraded parts so that they will fit and finish them and they'll match as opposed to ordering it down the line. This will be a bit more expensive up front but cheaper in the long run by not having to pay shipping, etc. They'll send you the finished parts and you can just pop them in.

So that would be the bullet proof thumb safety and mag catch and the magwell if that's a big deal to you. You can also order a regular firing pin and spring and then just keep the titanium for a backup (the titanium setup is so that it will pass Ca drop test). The "old sights" are actually pretty nice...they're night sights instead of fiber optic.

Things like grip medallions are markings aren't even worth worrying about.

I have one Ca. Legal CQB Lightrail- and I would never buy another one- unless I get it for cheap so I can send it to Wilson for upgrades. I purchased mine from a So Cal dealer- and that's never going to happen either- BS mark ups and etc. I just priced a new Ca. Lightrail from my out of state dealer vs my SoCal dealer- a little over $600 difference. If your getting one, purchase out of state- you get a better price, better service.
As for ordering a Ca Wilson with extra upgraded parts, they will not do it, atleast that's what they told me 6months ago. Sending it for extra work- which I did- thicker bushing , flush cut reverse crown, 2 piece magwell, chamber flute, slide stop serrations, bottom of slide chamfer, replace all mim with BP parts and some other things I forget- $1200, not including a new AT coat. This was 2012 pricing.
As for the Tac Elite(Non Ca) it's now my fav shooter. It's such a nice, flat shooter. Shoot a 200gr through it and it feels like shooting a 9mm.
I never can figure out how to post pics, but if you PM me your email- I'll send you a before and after pics. I know it sounds crazy, but it was worth it to me to have it my way.
