ammo for 357

I will soon receive my 357 s&w (686p).... (before end of month...and hopefully for my BirthDay!)

i will need ammunition and I plan to keep the brass to reload later.

What should I get?

Have fun. You can also shoot .38 spl out of your .357, of course make sure you clean the charging holes real well after each use to prevent carbon buildup.

I've always liked Magtech .357 125 gr. ammo. It feels hotter than the other brands and the L-frame 686 handles the recoil nicely.

If you shoot much - handloading will save you $$$ quickly.

If you are going to shoot this on paper after you get all wet over the boom and recoil of the 357 save yourself some money and shoot 38. The holes in the paper won't change size but you'll have more change in your pocket.

I agree, practice with .38, buy in bulk at guns show, and skip loading is how I learned to shoot. It was until I learn to shoot with my 586 did I realized that I was just throwing round down range with my "cooler" semi-autos.
