    I would hope there is enough Grey Poupon to go around.

          I've got a dozen handguns that cost $1500+, but I'd love to get me a full rail RIA.

            I have a Nighthawk Custom T3. It was then given a full makeover by the Springfield Armory Custom Shop with an entirely new slide and barrel assembly using only the most premium parts. It cost, at a minimum, 4x as much as yours. It was hand made at Nighthawk, and has the gunsmith's initials stamped into the frame. Then it was hand built again at the SACS.

            I fart in your general direction. And at your SA 1911 Loaded.

              Only Wilson Combat 1911's touches these fingers. JK.....I appreciate all guns for what they are. The craftsmanship on a custom 1911 is something else though.... love it.

                SA 1911 SNOB

                So I'm new to 1911s. A guy in the lane next to me let me shoot his Kimber (don't remember the model). Two shots in the same hole sold until I looked at the price. Just getting back into shooting last year I was not going to spend over a grand on a gun.

                Some of the instructors at the range had Citadel Full Size guns they'd had modified for under the grand total. So I bought the Citadel ($450)and really liked it as is.

                But I couldn't get the Kimber out of my mind. So as I am contemplating getting a CCW permit, I started evaluating Kimbers again. You know what comes next. A new Ultra CDP II (I'm left handed and liked the ambi safety). Got it out of jail last Sunday, shot it Monday and love it.
                I love quality and would love to own a Nighthawk or equivalent, but cannot justify spending $4K on what would essentially be a range target pistol. If I was seriously competing a different story.
                I did try a "springer" at the range but didn't like how it shot for me (it was likely not the professional). I think I'll try it again, though, now that I have more experience shooting 1911s. I love the platform.
                I guess it comes down to use case unless you have a lot of disposable cash on hand.
                Thanks for the great information on this thread. I love the passion involved for the guns we own and have shot. I love being part of the shooting community again after a 40 + year hiatus (since Vietnam where I got to shoot the standard issue Colt 45 a few times).

                  Love my TRP OP, she's my mountain EDC workhorse and I treat her as such.

                  Looking at getting something lighter though, how are those 9mm 1911s??? Looking for a smaller, lighter backup and to be able to utilize 9mm.

                    This just about sums it up.

                    I mean, yeah, a Honda Accord is actually a heck of a nice car, and certainly worthy of pride of ownership, but if you're actually using it as a vehicle to look down upon people who own Dodge Darts or something, that's pretty lame. Shoot - snobbery of any kind is lame.

                    FWIW I think the RIA GI models are much closer to John Browning's original intent than virtually any other 1911 on the market.

                        Well if you're talking springfields, I keep hearing really good things about their Range officer models. They're shorter and lighter than the full size loaded models so that might be up your ally if you're looking for a backup piece.

                        Here's a couple of models I looked at on their website:

                          Lightstrider;

                          That's a great looking TRP. I love seeing a well used weapon. Wring every ounce of use you can out of it!

                          To the OP;

                          I suggest you post your reflections on your new status as a Springfield owner over on 1911forum.com and see what they have to say.

                          The good news is that if you think your Springfield gives you the right to look down on other gun owners, you won't ever have to buy another 1911. You've already attained the status of elitist 1911 snob with your entry-level purchase. Congratulations!

                            All this tells me is that your Youtube search query was lacking. If I search for a non-RIA brand, there's a high probability that a RIA vid isn't going to show in the query results.

                            I own various guns makes (including Springfield)...I'm a snob to no brand. Plus, there have been many cases where I've learned something from a video that didn't 100% pertain to a particular brand of gun. I agree with Bill Steele...it's all relative.

                            And just because others may feel the same doesn't mean that you (or them) are right. Justifying being snobbish...LOL...okayyyyy.

                              Sa loadeds are mighty fine machines. That by no means makes them something to be snobby about. That's just silly, like proclaiming yourself to be a glock-snob.

                              I used to be somewhat of an hk-snob back when I thought hk's were the shiznizz. Then I just realized they were overpriced guns with crappy triggers and overpriced accessories - hk just wanted snobs' money, and glock can give me the same performance for almost half the money. That's the case with the vp9. They imitated glock's design, and knew people would pay a premium simply for the name even though performance wise-it was lacking compared to the glock it was trying to duplicate. I.E. a max std capacity of 15 rounds, compared to glock 17's 17 rounds.

                              I have met a few kimber owners who were snobby because kimber USED to make awesome 1911's which were used by many swat and spec ops units, even though all they had were newer, commercialized, cut-corner pieces with the brand. Yet they tilt their noses up when they say "this is a kimber!" This has affected the price, as many kimbers actually cost less than a comparable SA now.

                              Even SA realized the power behind marketing for profitability when they decided to buy the name. But at least they produce well built units and stand behind their products. This is something kimber has been known for not doing.

                                Pretty much all 1911s are made the same, well, by DEFINITION, they are all the same design.

                                Your snobbery of RIA amounts to "my iPhone" is better because it's got gold trim, so I deleted all those videos of people with the silver trim.
