I love my loaded. I scored it BNIB on gunbroker for $730. Before I even had it out of jail I ordered a GI guide rod and Wilson combat spring cap and a set of pachmayer grips. Why use a tool to field strip the pistol, much easier with the GI rod.

Nice! I ended up going with S&W for my 1911 back in the good ole days of SSE but the SA Loaded was my close 2nd choice.

Not that it's no good, but too much trouble for what it is. Either go GI set up or Wilson (or the like) 1pc to make life easier. Nothing drastic, but after disassembling a few times you'll get what I'm saying.

You can turn that 2 pc guide rod into a 1 pc by shortening it just a tad and Red Loctite. It will disassemble just like any one piece FLGR equipped 1911. If you shoot at Richmond or USI look me up. I can show you my Springfield Loaded Target how the guide rod is shortened and a few other things.

Excellent pistol for the money - great company that stands behind their product if you need them.
I replaced the 2-piece guide rod with a one piece full length rod in mine. The Loaded is a keeper. Good luck.

JTROKS: Are you saying I can take off a little bit of the guide rod at the muzzle end, loctite the two pieces together and I'm good-to-go?

Mine had a habit of unscrewing itself after a couple hundred rounds, it's the one item of work that I would suggest on a new Loaded.

Yes. it's not that hard to do, but you can't cut it too short or it will hang up.

I got my Loaded 9mm for $870 shipped, but before tax, transfer fees, and DROS.
So a bit over $1k OTD? Sounds like similar for op as well.

Possibly this, op, if u wanna spend a little more to make Stripping a bit more convenient. Not a HUGE deal. But It really should come from the factory with it.

Funny, I bought the same gun yesterday from a fellow cal gunner. Practically new for $750. This is my first 1911 and I chose the SA loaded because of reputation of SA and the upgrade features of the loaded for a fair price. I figure you decided on the same things. I don't plan to mess with it for at least 500 rounds before I consider more upgrades. Shiny stainless is very flashy option that I preferred as most of my other pistols are blue. Now I got 10 days to stock up on .45 ammo. Congrats OP and enjoy.
