Nice. My first pistol was an SA Loaded A1 .45. Still my fave.

Nothing really wrong with the 2 piece guide rod, other than it doesn't really do much in terms of benefits, and it's just one more bit of truly unnecessary complexity.

That being said, unless if it breaks, or the takedown procedure is too much, there is no real harm in keeping the two piece guide rod.

Just note the guns Springfield fielded for actual service purposes (or claims to?), the Professional (for the FBI) and the MC Operator (for the Marine Corps 45ACP request) use the GI-style guide rod (original 1911 design).
