I have one Tripp Research 10 round 45 ACP mag that I've only put about 100 rounds thru so far with a Colt 1911, so far so good, zero hickups. For the 8 round mags, I use Chip McCormick. The 8 rounders have seen a lot more use, zero hiccups with them too. I've heard great things about Wilson mags too, I think if you stick with Wilson, Chip McCormick or Tripp Research, you should be fine.

As a side note, for 9mm I prefer the Tripp magazines. They have seen the most use thru 2 different 1911's and not a single issue.

So I got these 10rd ProMags for cheap, well.... they are cheap. I also keep them loaded with 10 most of the time so that doesn't help the spring. But They sit a little loose so sometimes I'll wrap that McNett camo tape around the bottoms so they sit tight in the mag well otherwise they cause failure to feed and extract.

Heard Wilson was the way to go so eventually I'm going to make the switch.

My Springfield hated Tripp and Chip, although they are very high quality mags, but has 0 failures with Wilson 10's. Buy one of each to test before you plunk down lots of money.

I have some CMC 10 roundeds, my RIA didn't really like them, but partly I think it's the basepads on them needed trimming to fit in my gun's magwell better, and I never trimmed them. I won't give up on them yet, but I can't say they were flawless in the RIA (with clip on MC magwell thingy).

Ive been eyeballing a RIA double stack for this reason. It holds 15 rounds of .45. Its the Tac 2011 model too. Trigger feels awesome and nice optic sites for 650.00

Have only ever used Chip McCormick Power mags for my 3 1911's over the past 7 years and zero hiccups, have a bunch of 8 rounders and a few 10 rounders.

Have a couple Wilson 47d's? that guy sold me when I PPTd his Wilson Combat CQB but have yet to use them, still stuck w my CMC Power mags, figured if it ain't broke don't fix it. Whenever I'm at an LGS and see them for a decent price I'll pick up a few, always have treated me great.

I've had better luck with the mec gars over the cmc mags in a wider variety of pistols, and they're like half the price

Look for mags that have either a sleeve or stud to prevent over-insertion into the pistol.

Sorry but having to wrap tape around ProMags to get them to fit properly is a big sign screaming DON'T USE.
