If you have a Government model (i.e. 5" barrel) and Kimber combat sights like a few of my Kimbers, you need to drift the rear sight between .042"-.056" to the right to zero it. .042" if it is shooting 3" left of POA, .056" if it is 4".

I have a Kimber Pro Eclipse and the sight was off just like yours I was hitting about 3" left. I check the front sight first to make sure it is centered and it was. I can eyeball the rear sight is just a tad to the left. I've adjusted many dovetailed sights so I thought it will take a couple of wacks with a light hammer and a nylon rod. That rear sight wouldn't budge to the right even after soaking it with penetrating oil. Soooo... I out comes the brass rod. That rod got beat up and sight did not move. So I drifted it to the left and with some good wacks it moved. I'm thinking they pressed the sight in and it will need a little fitting for it to move right for I don't have a press. After a few strokes with a triangular fine file I drifted the rear sight to the right spot. It's still snug and hasn't moved since. If you do it yourself make sure you don't lose that small spring under the rear sight.

Either this guy had bad luck or I am extremely lucky. Every Kimber I came across was working flawlessly out of the box with no mag problems and extremely accurate, but I do not experiment with every ammo aboration marketed out there. Even $90K Mecedes Bens S series have a few that need attention after purchase. That is nothing new in mass produced/assembled products.
