Smith and Wesson Model 37 airweight new in original cardboard box. serial 596xxx

Is it really a 5609 and not a 5906? Never heard of a 5609. Anyway, I bought a NIB 5906 two years ago from a dealer's private collection for $500. BTW, check the magazine capacity so you don't break any laws. A lot of them came with high cap mags.

1965 / 66 on the model 37. Sweet lil guns. Meant to be carried allot... shot alittle. (non + P rated BTW ). With original factory box numbered to gun & all paperwork..$650 & up IMHO.

1988 / 89 on the model "5609". If your gun is really stamped "5609" you have a model 5906 that left the factory mis marked. Please take another look at the frame where the model # is stamped.

The 5906 is a sought after, 3rd gen pistol. Outstanding 9mm. A week doesn't go by where somebody doesn't have a "WTB" in the Marketplace looking for one. NIB with all goodies, makes it more desirable. $650 & up IMHO.

And a final BTW......"NIB" doesn't mean a perfect gun. I've seen some "NIB" guns with handling marks, dings, dents and even rust. If a collector is buying, he or she will want as close to "perfect" gun as possible. Plus he or she will be willing to pay for it. Little things which mean nothing to to the average owner mean allot to a collector. Things like turning the cylinder on a revolver. Thus the price on a "NIB" gun will go up or down depending on the condition or the gun, box, etc...

P.S.....No problem with Granma having the "standard capacity" mags ref the "5609" . You on the other hand. might have some issues. No worries , other gunners will be by to explain more on this.

            Great guns, congrats.

Is the frame aluminum or Stainless steel? The steel frames are heavier, but they are more desirable due to rarity and as a shooter will be more durable. If your grandma finds a 6906 that has a steel frame please PM me.

                Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

The 5906 with "square" trigger guard is more sought after from what I've seen than the later "rounded" trigger guard 5906s. A NIB like yours should bring a premium, especially here in California. If I was selling that one, which I would highly recommend NOT doing, but since you want to, I'd ask 750-800. I think if you put up for Auction on Gunbroker, thus making it available to a larger buying group, you could easily get $600+ based on what you have there with the box, papers, etc.

Where are you located? I would be interested in the 5906.
