Slex. Combo hex and slotted. Available from Fusion Firearms.
All my 1911s have hex screws. Very easy to use 1 hex tool for all of them. I carry a set in my range bag. 3/32 is what they all are.
Torx is just another unusual tool to carry. It's the odd man out.

Doode! Just how tight are you torquing those screws?

Not like they're holding on a cylinder head or something.

Ummm, the 1911 was designed with slotted screws because recessed hex head (Allen) or Torx screws had yet to be invented.

Yeah, I don't think we can freeze frame to 1911 and say if it isn't a part of the original design, no go.

            Eight round mags

            Aftermarket sights

            Bobtail frames

            Target bushings

            Aftermarket triggers

            Non traditional grips.

            Etc.

Flat head are far easier to booger up than torx or Allen, in fact, I've seen a lot of torn up firearms, and it's almost always a flat head screw that's screwed up. I've never seen a buggered up torx or hex screw.

I control what's in my range bag, and a full set of screwdrivers and Allen wrenches are in there. I'd never take a .45 case to a screw, and I can't imagine anyone would need to under range use.

Well, you're the first to say that. My carry magazines ALL have bumper pads, negating the possibility of such use.

Do you agree that it was designed with flat head screws for any reason other than no other alternatives existed? Do you think Allen or torx are interior?

I use Torx and Hex head grips screws. The flat heads that came with my Baer were tossed almost immediately upon getting my grubby little hands on it!

I keep different styles to go with different grips.

Grips and grip screws for 1911's are like shoes for women, can't have too many!

                            Not misunderstanding him at all.

                            This is what he said:

The benefit is that it is easy to find a slotted screwdriver, not so easy to find a Torx. These screws only come loose at in opportune times. So, best to use the most easily sourced stuff.

Do allen or torx do something better than slot heads?
Absolutely. I already mentioned it. All the screw heads that I see on old firearms that are screwed up are slot heads. Wrong thickness, too much torque, or God forbid it slips out of the slot under pressure and gouges wood or metal.

Allen and torx heads contain the driver so it can't wander out of the socket.

IMHO, they also look much better
