    Slim grip full size 9mm?

Looking for some suggestions for a slim gripped full size 9mm.

My wife is very small, my 6yr old son shares shoes with her and her hands are not much bigger. She likes her handguns but is looking for something larger. Currently she has a XDS 3.3" 9mm and a Sig P232. She isn't as keen on the XDS as she is on the P232. Her P232 has the rubber Hogue grips on it with the finger grooves and she loves that way that feels in her hand. The XDS grip is a little aggressive for her so some rubber Talon grips or a Hogue Jr may be ordered in the near future.

I took her to the range yesterday and we tried out a P226 and a P220 (Thanks to the guy that works at LAX Range for letting us use his personal P220 Stainless!). She liked the P226 with the slimmer grips but didn't like the P220 (we tried the P220 because she likes the 1911 in 45ACP. Wanted her to try other single stack 45ACP options too). Will be getting a 1911 for her / us in the near future too.

TLDR version, are there any options, on roster, for a slim grip full size 9mm that she should try other than the P226? Glock, XD, and other double stack 9mm she has tried have all been too wide.

    Thanks!

The Taurus PT-111 has a pretty slim grip profile, but it's not a full size.

Some of the earlier S&W semi-autos might be worth a look. They use metal mags so they don't need a large of a magwell opening.

Too bad the M&P 9 is no longer on the roster. With the small backstraps installed, it's easily one of the slimmest full-sized handguns. If you can find one for PPT, that's what I would recommend.

Your best bet is a Browning Hi Power, if you're willing to pay that much

The Browning Hi Power is great if you are willing to spend the money.

I would suggest she try a 9mm 1911. At one of the ranges I used to shoot at pretty regularly they had a ladies night (free for female shooters). Most ladies nights there were more 1911's on the line than all other guns combined. Chicks just seem to dig 1911's.

You said it in your post that she wants a full size 9mm and likes the 1911 platform. There you go 1911 in 9mm!

The Browning Hi Power is the better 9mm, between it and the 1911 in 9mm. Very similar ergonomics, but the BHP handles 9mm in terms of recoil and flip better than the 1911 does.

If you ever have a chance to try back to back a BHP and a 9mm 1911 at the range, it's easy to see.

IMO, the Browning High Power is the best metal full framed 9mm there is.

Try to find a used one. They can be had for $600-700 which is a good price for what you are getting. IMO, and all that.

Another option, though not 9mm, is getting a revolver in 38/357, which is similar. The S&W model 19, as an example, is very well balanced and can be comfortable for people with smaller sized hands.

i'm suprised she found an XD grip too big, but was keen on the sig grip. I was going to recommend an XD. You could check out a Kahr. They are very slim.

Best bet though? CZ PO1 or CZ 75b. They will eat up recoil, and not many can say they don't like the feel and fit of the grip.

Try finding an old school P220 in 9mm?

                    Or a P210?

She picked them. I just paid for them. She shoots them fine but is looking for something bigger.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll pass them on to her and try to find a place where she can rent them. For 1911, she wants one in .45acp.

                        Slim grip full size 9mm?

It sounds that she doesn't like the recoils and not so much grips. Let her try some of the full size handguns:

                        M&P full size 9mm
                        1911 government 9mm
                        CZ full size

Best choice is a cz though it is not a single stack. You can get a single action only model for a good price too.

I'd recommend a single stack full size gun. Many are off roster but still around if you look. I have some like that. P225, S&W 909, Walther P1, Star super B, etc.
