Can you keep one loaded in your backpack? As long as its concealed while camping?

There is this wonderful thing called Google, here is the result for violence on the appalachian trail

Search the world's information, including webpages, images, videos and more. Google has many special features to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

Without a CCW you may loaded open carry in certain areas. You may unloaded open carry in other areas. You may loaded conceal carry in your campsite. Here's where I'm making guesses... I think you may loaded conceal carry while hunting. I think you may unloaded conceal carry while fishing. I know you can loaded open carry while hunting if not otherwise restricted (archery only season or tags, etc.) and I think you can loaded open carry while fishing if firearms are no prohibited in the area you are in.

With a CCW you may loaded conceal carry anywhere your CCW permits.

Carrying in your backpack is transporting, gun must be unloaded and in a locked container.

I guess my question was, can you keep loaded concealed while your hiking. For the 2-legged critters who might be deep on your trail.

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.

So what do they expect you to do? Have the gun in the backpack, with the magazine to the brim right next to it. If SHTF, you pull it out, pack it in and defend?

Guys asking questions about carrying legalities, please see the Camping, Hiking, and Outdoor activities forum...all your questions will be answered there in detail.

Back on topic, someone already mentioned a S&W J frame type revolver, this is the route I went with too because I found it the lighter more concealable option of revolvers in my price range.

Oh okay, I didn't know you weren't allowed to ask certain questions in select forums. My bad.

SCE your research fu is failing you. Your asking questions that have been answered 100's of time already, (including in this thread). Adding your own special what-if's doesn't change those answer's.

The one thing I have noticed while hiking is that a revolver doesn't seem to freak people out the way an auto-loader does. I don't know if it is some media induced fear of auto-loaders, or ? I've walked by people carrying my Smith and little to no reaction, while my buddy with his 1911 got stares and strange looks from the same people.

I did say "please" check out the other forum. Mods and lots of people took time to research and make the topic of carrying in forests/parks in CA an actual sticky post...I assure you all the replies there are up to date.

**** man, if I really had it my way, I'd carry my Benelli M4 in plain sight and give the strange looks right back at those people lol! But anyways, keepin' it real, I'd rather keep the gun concealed (but ready) just to avoid the stupid looks which would ruin my fun being in the outdoors...I just keep reminding myself that there are SO many sheeple here in CA.....

SCI doesn't have research fu. He's too lazy to research anything.
