    If I didn't have a MKII, I'd get a Buckmark now.

If I was looking at revolvers I'd get a Ruger SP101 8-shot or a Single Ten.

Bought it last year, no SSE

The S&W 22A has been discontinued. No longer available from S&W. I think they had too many cracked frames. My 22A has been great.

Yup, Buck Mark is a great gun. Liked how it shot and felt in my hands more than my 22/45. Reliability-wise, both eats any kind of ammo.

Yep, Buck Mark is a great gun. Also consider these depending on what you want it for.

For cheep plinking the Beretta Neos, VERY easy to clean and shoots/runs on most any ammo, great price. Put a little red dot on it for under $20 and you have a super fun plinker.

If you are a tinkerer and like to work with triggers, options, and customizations, the Rugar is the only way to go.

For high end accuracy at a price you can still live with, the HAMMERLI
XESSE, available in CA because it is on this Olympic exempt list

For beauty, collectability, and fantastic function and accuracy, the S&W model 41 or the Browning Medalist, both are also available on the exempt list.

For serious target shooting, comb and scour the Olympic list, there are some amazing guns on that list from Walther, Pardini, Hammerli and others.

All of these are available in CA, on list, either the standard list or the Olympic list.

Update, the Neos has fallen off the list. No longer an on list option.
Makes that Buckmark look better and better : )

I have a Ruger mark I from my great g-pa. I also have a mark II that just about can't miss the target, it's scary accurate. I love them both.

My son has a neos and really likes it. My daughter has a buckmark and it shoots real well. You might be confused by now.

The Model 41 is the default answer around here and it's a great gun.

But the one no one mentions is the Beretta 87 Target which is specifically on the roster and is several hundred dollars cheaper than the 41.

There are also these little single shot, bolt action guns. lots of fun. Still available as a single shot exempt because it REALLY IS a single shot, not semi-auto. Priced under $200.

Crickett 22LR little single shot bolt action .22.

Chipmonk 22LR same gun, also sold under the name Chipmonk some interesting variations, and different stocks.

I was never a fan of .22 pistol/revolver until a CZ Kadet kit fallen into my lap.
