USP45 false reset Uptdate at #21

For those that are unaware, several HK pistols have this issue. After a round is fired there can be a felt click in the the trigger half way between the the actual trigger reset.
Aparently HK is aware of the issue however i am not the original owner of this pistol so I dont think the warranty applies.

My question to those that have/ had this issue, will the match trigger kit solve this or do i need to order a new trigger bar as well?

I keep short stroking the trigger and cant take it anymore. Not to mention the stock trigger is gritty, mushy, and utter garbage.

Just when i though the USP 45 was the only gun without any issues ever. I dont own a 45 but the USP is going to be my first this year. Hopefully more people chime in here so I can know what to look out for. Goodluck im sure it will be a simple fix.

Next gun I'm looking at is a USP, and I was aware of this issue. You're right that it seems to affect multiple HK pistols.

I guess that's why alot of the USPs I see for sale have trigger jobs.

I was looking at a USP 45 too. Have heard that Hk has fixed this for any owner who complained, by replacing the trigger bar. Presumably they have fixed this problem in new guns they ship out. I will test in the store for this problem before I buy.

OP you may want to get a new trigger bar. I would call Hk even if you are not original owner.

On my USP 9, the Match trigger only lightened the DA pull by a few lbs. The SA pull and reset were not improved with the Match trigger, which I found disappointing. When shooting, I just let the trigger out all the way between shots.

OP....does this false reset only happen when firing a live round or can this scenario be reproduced with dry fire?

It's a known issue on the HK45C but I haven't heard much about it happening on the USP....But anyways, I think a new trigger bar will solve it, not the match trigger.

The false reset also occurs during dryfire, sorry.

I spoke with H&K this morning and conversation was short and less than helpful. I was told to send it in and they will look at it. If its a manufacture's defect they will replace the parts. Im planning on on swapping out the trigger in the next few weeks anyway. $30 for a trigger bar is cheaper than next day air to and from HK for a "free" trigger bar.

Maybe this belongs more in the gunsmithing thead. My apoologies if its in the wrong place.

As far as the trigger weight on the match setup, can i just swap out the hammer spring for the #12 and lighten the SA pull? I read the LEM offers a lighter spring to reduce the weight to 7.5 lbs. I would accept anything between 4 and 7 lbs honesty (SA)

Its a shame that the only trigger kits available are H&K factory triggers.

Just out of curiosity, what variant is your USP, and do you ride the safety/decock lever with your thumb like some, including myself, do with a 1911?

Its a V1. As far as riding the safety, my thumb points forward on top of the safety but no downward pressure on the lever itself (atleast in dryfire).

I've never heard of this being an issue on the USP line, I change all of my HK's with safety lever/ decock to safety only because while shooting I would sometimes put pressure on the decock and would get an effect that felt like it may have been a false reset. You may want to have someone else dry fire it to see if they have similar results and worst case scenario send it back to HK. You can also try and change the detente plate to remove the decock yourself, it's fairly easy, however if that's not the problem then obviously it's not going to solve anything for you.

Its a fairly pronounced click both times (without going near the lever). Infact while i was on the phone with H&K earlier i held the pistol near the phone and pressed the trigger to the rear, held it, racked the slide, and slowly let the trigger out slowly and let the rep hear both clicks. I understand the rep probably fields thousands of the same calls but he was able to hear it though seemed calus to the issue

Well, I have both the USPf 45 and a 45C both DA/SA---both pistols run 100% with the usual HK boring reliability---both are very accurate---I would trust my lives to either pistol. I don't ride the safety on either gun---thumbs are locked down over each other, like they should be---have NEVER decocked a pistol by mistake while shooting.
I am not a trigger snob---I shoot MANY different types of pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns with MANY different trigger systems. I don't worry to much about "reset" which seems to be a topic that has many people worried/annoyed/concerned/willing to spend lots of money to "correct." I am a very experienced shooter with decades of shooting and hunting behind me and still manage to hit what I'm aiming at...

My training and experience and weapon use is irrelevant and i do my best to keep it out of a public forum.

This pistol was purchased used 4-5 years ago from a fellow calgunner. I believe i am at least the third owner with thousands of rounds down the pipe on my end. The barrel is still accurate. So for those that are considering this pistol dont let this thread detour you. As jyo mentioned these pistols are very reliable and the barrels are almost indestructable.
Objectively: I'll get the trigger bar on order and go from there. Maybe a match kit and/or lem parts if the trigger bar solves the issue.
