My first 1911

Picked it up at the beginning of this week. Too bad work is in the way of me testing it out at the range. Hopefully I can scramble up a couple buddies to go shooting next weekend.

Congratulations. Springfield G.I.? Is the ambidextrous safety standard, or is that an add on?

I'm thinking of getting one of these for myself. I'd like an inexpensive, reliable 1911, and I was looking at the Springfield G.I., the Kimber Custom TLE II, and a Colt Series 70 reproduction. The Colt is not really inexpensive, but it is awfully nice.

Sweet...Is that a PX9109L? It looks like my gun, but with a green duracoat/armorcoat. It's a nice looking gun!

I believe its a PX9609L (per UPC code on case) and it's a Loaded model some of which come with an ambi safety (you can tell by the "L" at the end of the model #). I actually missed this gun the first time it sold. Luckily for me the buyer never showed up and the seller just wanted to make a quick sale so he knocked off $50 off the price. I'm most likely going to get some hogue wrap around grips before I shoot it, after shooting a 1911 w/ front checkering it just doesn't feel right. Or maybe those tactical grips with the punisher skull on them. I'm not sure yet. I apologize for the oversize pics, this is my first time posting pics. I'll resize them next time.

Youll love that Springfield, I got 3 myself, a Milspec, a 1911 loaded, and a 1911 Compact loaded.

Got me a matching Punisher skull receiver from Metroshot to go with it. Im a big Punisher guy, its the only comic I still buy at age 29.

Same here, the only believable comic super hero (if I'm not mistaken, isn't it Frank Castle's favorite gun too??). I've caught the 1911 bug since I was a kid. My dad would tell me stories of how his dad was a MP stationed in Subic Bay, Philippines during and after WWII. He had a high shelf where the kids couldn't get to it and he would unload the magazine every night and load it up again in the morning. Then my father served w/ it while stationed in Korea and bought his Colt 80 series from a buddy for $200 because his kid was gang banging w/ it (keep in mind So Cal during early 90's). Now I finally have one. Hopefully when I enter into law enforcement I can have one as a side arm although I'm aware of the "cocked & locked" issues. I had my sights on a CZ75BD as my next gun but I also think about it as half saved up for a SA Ultra Compact or just another 1911.
