is this air gun any good?

I've never looked in this section before- I know next to nothing about air guns.

A good friend recently bought a small piece of land and a house way up NorCal. I'm going to visit soon and I want to get him a gift that's nice but not to expensive. I got to thinking a decent air rifle might be a fun gift. Besides cheap and quiet target plinking- might come in handy for pest control from time to time as well. Like me- my friend knows next to nothing about air guns either.
I found a decent deal on a Gamo Swarm Fusion 10x Gen 2. The reviews look good. from what I've read it's a big improvement over the Gen 1? I thought the .177 pellet would be good since he already has some .22lr firearms. I've seen the name Gamo around- is it a good brand?
Let me know if I made a bad choice and I can return it. I just don't want to buy junk but stay within budget as well. Who knows- maybe I'll try it out and want one too.

POS, feed mechanism is the suck.

Find a powerful single shot suppressed rifle. PCP or otherwise and let the 17 year olds do the beta testing on the weirdos.
        It's not PTSD, it's nostalgia.

Really. The round magazine looked like a pretty cool gimmick. Seemed kind of tedious having to place a pellet into the chamber after every shot like all the other similar rifles I looked at.

Only problem I would have is that it is a GAMO. Mass produced crap with poor quality at times. I am more of a PCP owner though. The Benjamin Marauder is what I run with and I enjoy it. The squirrels hate it though.

I second both thoughts, about Gamo and the Benjamin Marauder. But I'll admit that I don't know about the Gamo, only what I've read. Still, I'm not going to buy any Hi Point pistols this week, even if I could find any.

Ha ha- so in the air gun world Gamo is equal to Hi Point? Not even up to Taurus level?
Ok so what break barrel .177 air gun that's commonly available for $300ish that I can acquire in the next 10 days would you all recommend?

My nephew has a Gen 1. No problems with it. Works well and is accurate. But he only has a few hundred rounds through it.

If u r willing to up the ante...go to a hw or rws. The rws model 34 is a great selection. It's accurate, rugged and reliable and usually very competively priced.
