My neighbor is a slop shooter. Wounded tree squirrels show up on my deck from time to time, pathetic

Another neighbor live traps them and relocates them.

I really enjoy watching their antics gathering acorns.

No bueno. Stinks bad. We bury them. We have a .17 caliber Gamo Bone Collector. Sometimes takes a while for them to die all the way.

Yeah it’s fun to shoot squirrels.
But if they have taken over as you say
They will have kids faster than you can kill em.
They get educated to everything you do when trying to kill em

Buy a squirrelinator and take the masses.

Got a Big 5 nearby? I bought a Benjamin Regal Nitro Piston for $150. Scope worked. It’s a break barrel, .22, with a gas piston. Very very quiet. Deadlier than most .177’s. Same gun is available in different stocks under different names. Pyramyd air sells them also.

You folks know ground squirrels will eat their own right? Between that, coyotes and other scavengers the dead stuff won’t stay around long.

I have a Crossman Quest 1000 and it works great for ground squirrels. I bury the carcasses under a couple of inches of dirt and 9 out of 10 times coyotes have dug it up overnight.

It depends on your situation. I watched ground squirrels strip fruit trees on my property and that was what motivated to me get a break barrel. One squirrel would climb the tree while one stayed on the ground. The one in the tree would gnaw through the stem and when the orange/avocado dropped to the ground, the 2nd one would keep it from rolling away. The 2 squirrels would then roll it to their hole and chew it into small enough chunks to take them underground. It took less than 5 minutes for them to drop and process each piece of fruit. At our place they were definitely a problem.

I've had success with an electric fence charger, a deterrent that can be left on 24/7. The squirrels always use the same fence top and deck railing to make their way around my yard. I wind the top rail with a double helix of bare wires, one hot and one ground. They will get a shock intended to move cattle, enough to make them squawk and run off, never to return.

OP - check your PM's. I have a like new Benjamin Regal II .22 Nitro Piston break-barrel rifle available for sale. It comes with a nice Hawke 3-9 scope with a solid one-piece mount/rings. I bought it then a couple months later bought a PCP air rifle so it has just been sitting.

I'm into it for about $240 - would like to get $175. I'm up in Sonoma County but could meet you part-way say in Novato.

I shoot them all the time with a .177 Walther 1000 out to 30 yards. I leave them on the ground as squirrels are canibals and also we have hawks, lots of hawks.

The most kills though goes to my orange tabby cat. She's ruthless, straight up squirrel annihilator. Seen her chase one down, reach into its burrow and pull it out by its face and procced to tear it apart.
