Very kind of you, might be good to get that info in the thread. For your fellow calgunners still stuck here in CA-- at least those in more populous counties-- the impluse to renew as early as possible is pretty deeply rooted.

Somewhere I read that Utah BCI sends a courtesy notice about 45 days prior to expiry, but if there is no harm in submitting earlier than that (like, 90 days), then why not?

When asked directly by email they advise, submit 90 days prior to expiry.

UT renewal turnaround was super quick for me! what I can't recall was if they sent me the renewal or i just did the form from online. I have the usual 3 UT, AZ and FL, and FL i have the longer one, and was actually in FL when I renewed it.

So walked into their office and just did the FP right in their office.

Anyhoo... UT? do they mail out the renewal?

Some info from the BCI investigation team that they asked me to pass along:

Renewal reminders are mailed 90 days prior to the renewal date.

Please do not renew prior to the 90 days.

There is a 10 day grace period for filing for your renewal. After that 10 days there is a $7.50 late fee.

If you don't have your Utah permit, what are you waiting for? Go get it.

^^ This. Especially if you travel interstate.

With a permit from each CA/AZ/UT, there are only 12 states, plus NYC/DC/Puerto Rico where you can't legally carry.

            Thanks for checking with them.

UT renewal, exactly two weeks from application (filed online) to receipt of new permit. Pretty good...

Same here. My renewal came in exactly 2 weeks. Easy to do online. Except stupid video you had to watch.

Not the quickest state, but definitely faster than CA:

9/14/2023: UT CCW Class Completed, Fingerprints and App Submitted to BCI
11/25/2023: BCI charged application fee on CC
                  12/15/2023: UT CCW issued
12/19/2023: UT CCW physically received in the mail

Was fully expecting to receive it in the new year (based on what the class instructor told us).

For those first-time applicants in CA; ASDI is a nice one-stop shop. You sit through your required class, they provide the application, take your photo for you, roll your fingerprints, and mail it off for you. Pretty much just show up and you're finished.

Anyone recommend a class for this around the bay area? Thanks

Yep. Two weeks for renewal. Watched the required video that convinced me not to off myself and paid online.
My mother always told me to be careful what you ask for.

Just one more piece of parental advice I stupidly ignored.

What video do they have you watch? Is it like those old driver ed films meant to scare you we had to watch in high school

We had to take an in person class here but don't remember a video

Applied in person at Utah BCI

Highways of Agony and Red Asphalt. I'm pretty sure the former is what we got to watch back in the day. Both age-restricted on YouTube.

Red Asphalt! That's a memory! How many years has it been since schools even offered a drivers' ed class.
When i took drivers ed in my local public high school, we were always begging the teacher to show us Red Asphalt, which he eventually did. You know how a bunch of adolescents love a gory film...
