2023 Utah Timeframe?

I mailed my application for a new CCW on February 21st and as yet have not heard anything back. Two months now. I have not called or emailed them.

Have not checked as to when the money order was cashed but may try that soon.

Anybody recently completed the process for Utah?

I got my CA and the AZ non resident permit so know the print cards and background check should not be a holdup.

Utah is shall issue once the background check is complete and no longer than 60 days. I would encourage you to reach out to the UT BCI. They are very accessible and helpful. You'll likely be put in touch with one of the investigators and they have the ability to do a quick review and issue.

Permit cards usually take 10 days to print and ship.

You should find out when it was cashed. That’s when the 60-day clock starts.

My initial Utah permit (2017 I think) took a month or two. The renewal was very fast, maybe two weeks.

I mailed mine Feb 7 - received renewal within 2-3 weeks. Issued with a start the same (or maybe +1) date as the existing expiring card. Kinda nice that they didn't shorten the term.

I think my renewal this year was 11 days to get the new card.

I'm thinking of getting a Utah CCW too. Is the time frame longer for initial applicants compared to renewals?

No. Your permit must be issued within 60 days of your application being received. The approvals and background are typically pretty fast through the BCI. If you have questions about status, you may email BCI.

Are they unappreciative if someone submits a renewal application around 90 days prior to expiry?

I don't think so but I can ask one of the investigators at our appeals board meeting on Aug 29.
