Arizona CWP Renewal & New Application Processing

hi, my permits to both locations will be expiring this year.
what do i need to do for renewal? will they send me a renewal notice?
would i need to go to a class again? I can't remember what placed i went to take the class i think i did it sometime in 2018 and it was in some store plaza in San Dimas California

AZ no longer sends renewal notices. No class or fingerprints are required for renewals. Just go to AZDPS's website and follow the renewal instructions.

Per the email from April 7th it was issued and "mailed". Still havent seen anything.

I'm in the same boat as you. Sent in my renewal mid Feb. Forgot about it for a while and then finally emailed them on May 3. Got the following reply May 5 but haven't received anything in the mail yet.

Your permit has been issued as of May 4, 2023 and will be mailed out the next business day via USPS to the address on the application.

I have everything else in order. Just need 2 fingerprint cards.

Cool!! Can I ask how much you paid? I called the local Postal Annex and they want $45 per card!

UPS store said they did them but couldn't give me a price on the phone for some reason. THey said "it depends" and couldn't give me a ballpark number.

Finally received my permit today May 15 with an issue date of 2/8/2023 and an expiration date of 2/8/2028.


That's what I get for being a few days late. At least I didn't have to go through application from scratch.

Try elsewhere!
At the time I think it was $20 each but that was 5+ years ago.
Some PD's will do them or so I have heard.

I called around and found a place $25 per card! I'm hitting that place up tomorrow. It's a UPS store so I'll have all my other paper work ready to go and I should be able to send it to AZ right from the UPS store unless they require USPS for some reason. I gotta check that out to be sure.

It goes to a PO Box so probably needs to go regular USPS.

Great point! I have to get a money order anyway and I believe my local post office handles that. I'll swing by UPS to get me 2 fingerprint cards, then go to post office to get money order and send it all off in their priority envelope!

So far it's been pretty painless. Thanks again!

I actually sent in all my information yesterday. VERY easy to do. I wish all states would make it this easy as is our right. I hope my fingerprints turned out good and not smudged.

Anyway
Application Fee = $60
Priority Mail = $10
Fingerprint 2 cards = $50

$120 total for the entire process thus far.

I'm not sure the current timeframe as far as how long it is taking. I'm guess I'll be waiting at least 2 months or more given the sheer number of requests AZ appears to be having.

Well that would be fantastic!!!

Which begs the question. How can AZ process these things so quickly and efficiently with CoCo county here in California has been taking literally 8-10 months!!!?!?

They have been all over the place with timeframes. If you read past posts they have been issuing in a few weeks to many, many months.

Mailed packet 3/23. Called 5/8, permit arrived 5/15.
