Oregon moving to honor other state's CCW

Wont do a thing for CA CCW holders thoughComment

Same thing happened a couple of years ago. Passed the Oregon House, got killed in the Oregon Senate by a few democrats pulling strings. Back then the governor said he would sign it. Not so sure about the current governor. As many know Oregon is one of a few states that stubbornly refuses to honor other licenses. BTW if you want to rag on states that stubbornly refuse to honor other licenses why not start with California? At least in Oregon nonresidents have the option to open carry.Comment

Thanks -- Californians usually have tunnel vision and it's hard to point out facts like this without being ignored or attacked.
People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

A lot of Oregon sherrifs said they are holding off on non resident permits waiting to see what happens. I'm hope I g they will honor a non resident Utah or az permitComment

Well it is a California based forum so a certain amount of provincialism is to be expected, but it is indeed a most inconvenient truth that in the lower 48 there are only two states - California and New York - that neither recognize any other state licenses nor allow nonresidents to apply for CA or NY LTCs (forget about those mythical temporary work LTCs, although I have heard of well connected nonresident business owners getting NY LTCs).
I wonder if Second Amendment rights would be fast tracked if residents of CA and NY were not allowed to have their LTCs recognized in the other states nor allowed to apply for LTCs in any other state. That would create quite an uproar.Comment

Hope so too, but as mentioned in post five, we've seen this before. Maybe things are different this time.Comment

HB 3093 is up for vote in the Oregon Senate today.Comment
-
Vote didn't happen. I was bored, so I turned on the live feed of the Senate.
The session ended just before HB3093 because three people spent 20+ minutes jibber jabbering about the bill immediately before it on the agenda.Comment
-
Any word when it is supposed to be heard now?
They should have to stay till the agenda is done, that's how a real job isComment

6/15 is next Senate floor session. Figure a week after that to get passed by the House, then a week after that to be signed.
It's an emergency bill now, so it will take immediate effect after being signed.Comment

I just found that thank youComment

To be fair, they have scheduled committe meetings at 1pm. If you took time from your day to show up to testify/speak at a committe hearing, and it was cancelled you'd probably be less than happy.
When I saw some of the people "wasting time" on the prior bill, I started to put on my tin foil hat, but then I looked up their party and was surprised to see they were Republican.Comment
