I'm not too picky. Any LEO duty ammo works in the 9 & 40. If I pocket carry the SR22 it's either CCI mini-mags or velocitors.

Anyone got a source for the ammo in 9mm? I tried about a week ago and couldn't find it anywhere online.

Since we are on the topic of ammo, does anyone know what Placer and Sacramento county uses for ammo? I tried to do a search and could not find those two counties.

              Thanks,

Didn't actually read that article for comprehension?
Only said the hollow point match bullet used by Snipers was not designed to cause excessive wounding or suffering, because it actually wasn't and doesn't. It has a thick jacket and extremely small hollow point. The point is there only due to the method of it manufacture.
You can't use a typical hollow point bullet designed to expand and cause huge gaping wounds- against a fellow combatant who is a signatory to the conventions. Terrorists and the like- don't apply. Carry on!

9mm- HST 124 or 147gr standard pressure or Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P. I like the HST because it seems to be a better penetrator and cheaper than the GD. I like the GD because it is 'street smart'. Firearms- Shield and Beretta M9A1. I was told a few years ago by a good source that the duty load for the San Diego PD was HST 147gr, standard pressure.

45acp- I think this caliber is sufficiently large as to use 230gr FMJ for any defensive situation, and I am cheap out of necessity right now. I did just receive some Freedom Munitions new 230gr FMJ- 250 rounds, so it will be either that or WWB for now. Firearm- picking up a new XD-45.

I don't know which 9mm ammo post refers to but SG Ammo has a wide selection that's very good but they sell out certain loads quickly. If your chosen round is not available presently sign up to get the email notifications when it's back in stock. Act promptly on it.

                            Federal HST 147 gr. 9mm
                            Federal HST 230 gr. .45
I have seen many gel tests and FBI barrier tests , and HST seems to be the most consistent..Whatever you use, please make sure you run at least 100 rounds through your carry gun. You don't want to find out that your particular gun doesn't like whatever ammo you loaded into it when you sling that snakewaggon for real!!

I was notified by SG Ammo Tuesday of 124gr HST in stock-I believe there were 125+ boxes (50-rd) in stock. I jumped on it and also posted on calguns about the availability, AFTER I made my small order te he.

The email alerts really work- otherwise, one will likely miss out because those boxes (standard pressure) sold within a day of the alert. It makes getting the ammo nearly effortless, compared to manually checking websites on a daily or more often basis.
