    Quick question?

I'm sure it's been addressed somewhere......but for the life of me I can't find it....and I called but there's no getting through.

I'm readying to apply here in OC for my CCW. I moved last year (HB to Costa Mesa) and my CDL does not reflect the new address....while at AAA a couple months back they entered the new info into the DMV records and gave me the little DMV card that shows my new address (handwritten) to keep with my license.

Is this an issue? I have the utility statements showing my new address.....and DMV records will match, but my physical license is my old house.

    Thanks!

I'm not sure about CCW, but I know that if you're purchasing a firearm the brown card won't work. The feds require a government issued document showing your new address which could include a host of things (vehicle registration, government owned utility bill, jury duty summons, etc).
This is separate from the California requirement for handguns (some documents meet both criteria, like a vehicle registration or government owned utility bill).

    Feds - address not matching:
    Government issued document

CA - handgun purchase: Any utility bill, lease agreement/property deed, any government issued license, permit, or registration.

So if it meets the third category for California, you can cover both requirements in one document.

Again, this is just for purchasing and I know you specifically asked about CCW (which I am unsure of).

    Good luck!

worked for me. as long as you have the brown card you are good. This was in Kern County though.

In San Bernardino County DL and CCW addresses must match. Best thing is to ask at the interview. You will likely have time to change it.

I didn't even have a brown card and I received my license 5 weeks ago. If and when they look up your DMV records, it will show your current registered address. I always use vehicle registration when purchasing.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. As mentioned they do a res. check anyway.
I don't (and won't) put my address on my DL.
I did however bring the mentioned utility bill - DMV registration & property tax bill info. (If I remember all they really looked at was utility info)

Doesn't the address on your registration have to match the address on your license?

You automatically fail the Good Moral Character test for not updating your DMV records within six minutes of moving. Nice try subject, now go along. And don't forget your taxes are due soon.

Op, I'm in the same boat too. I explained the situation and the investigator said ok. I'm currently waiting on the livescan results. I'm in the oc too.
