Search in the Concealed Carry Holsters, Equipment and Accessories - Calguns.net subforum.

From a previous thread about backpacks/sling bags...

Because of employer policies prohibiting unauthorized personnel from carrying a firearm while working, I am allowed to carry to/from work, but not allowed to carry while working. I am also allowed to secure my carry handgun in my vehicle or in my locked desk inside my office.

Because of this, I often employ off body carry, due to the ease of carrying and securing it due to my work requirements.

I typically use a Maxpedition Jumbo Verispack.
^Contains my carry pistol, extra ammo, first aid/trauma kit, flashlight, spare batteries, snacks, and water bottle.

During the 2019-2020 periods of unrest (protest/rioting/looting) where I worked/travel through, I have also utilized my 5.11 Select Carry Pack for off-body carry.
^For my carry pistol, extra ammo, first aid/trauma kit, and Ruger PC Carbine.

For hiking/camping, I have used the Hill People Gear Original Kit Bag full sized for off-body carry.
^For my carry pistol, extra ammo, first aid/trauma kit, map, compass, and snacks.

I just picked up this one. It's smaller and pretty streamlined but can still fit a full sized handgun. It's also available in a larger size. But as long as you stick with a basic color, I don't think it screams, "shoot me first." YMMV. They have some other ones too.

Vertx has some nice options if you get the right color.

I think something like this. I guess my main goal is to have something next to me while I go to some outdoor events thats redily accessible without having to bring a full size backpack. Easy to pick up walk to a bathroom or walk around the event.

Good find thanks, though I do like some of the hello kitty prints...LOL

A friend of mine did this with her Louis Vuitton slingbag and Yves Saint Laurent camera bag.

Sling bags suck. Takes longer to access the firearm compared to any on-body carry method, period. Even if it's a couple seconds, it's slower, and if you're every in the situation where you need that firearm, seconds count. The other negative to a sling pack is that pack needs to be on your person constantly. Can't take it off and sling over the chair or place it next to you in a restaurant because now you run the risk of the pack getting stolen, leaving it behind in a brain fart moment, etc.

With all that said, if you must use a sling pack, 5.11 makes one that has no branding on it aside from a tiny little tab that says 5.11, and that little tab can be tucked away (this is part of the bags design) so there's no logos or branding visible at all.

This was mostly my thinking too. I'm not fond of off body carry. But it does have it's place. I just wanted a simple little bag that I could toss a gun in for those times where I needed to run out for a literal quick errand but didn't want to go through the hassle of getting fully dressed, strapping on a gun, etc. The bag is smaller, low key, and doesn't attract attention.

Do note that your next challenge is trying to figure out the best way to carry your gun in this thing. It does come with a soft holster but I wasn't wild about it and wanted something solid around the trigger. Note too that when the bag is on your back the gun is going to be oriented upside down. So whatever you use for a holster needs to have decent retention to hold the gun through that and generally being jostled around.

Note that there is this thread that deals with that and there is a link to a thread in another forum that gives some options about securing the gun...

For those of you that carry in a sling bag, backpack, etc., how have you mounted your holster in the bag? Note that I'm well aware of the soft holsters that are available and the bag even came with one...albeit it's a little tight. However, I'm just not comfortable carrying in a soft holster and would like to mount a kydex

In our culture, it seems any guy carrying a sling bag that doesn't look like going to or from work or the gym seems to scream "gun inside" A lady can carry virtually any manner of purse and get away with it.

Even something like this may look out of place, but would blend in when carrying of other bags would look "out of place"

I have the "little trick" backpack and can't say enough good things about the build quality they put into their bags.
The Little Trick may be a bit large to be an EDC bag, but I needed something that could hold my work laptop (and the weight) with my arms free and the various sling bags just didn't work for that purpose.
I am moving to a more office based job and may be getting the messenger bag too.....

The Lululemon Everywhere Belg Bag 2L fits a fullsize pistol + extra mag and definitely doesn't scream GUN!
