    USS Midway is CCW Friendly

I was touring the USS Midway with my Wife today and when we entered I didn't notice the metal detectors.
The guy at the entrance asked me about what was in my pocket (638). I didn't know they picked it up so I showed him my phone and keys.
He pointed at my pocket and asked can you pull out what's in that pocket. I told him I can't take it out in public and then quietly said it's a legally carried firearm.

He said okay come over here off to the side, I figured great I'm not going to be able to go on the Midway now.
Nope, they just asked for my permit, logged in that I was legal and was on board armed and said enjoy the tours.

Very cool! I wouldn't have expected that.

There was a discussion on this. A guy who works security there said no.
March 2023-They have walk through detectors; pretty modern ones. Didn?t carry there due to ladders, etc. Had multiple knives and forgot a couple of full mags in my bag but none of that was detected.

When we went on the High Roller in Vegas a few years ago there no metal detectors but the ticket take saw the knife I had clipped inside my pocket. Ne said I couldn't take it in so I hid it right outside behind plants. Then boarded without it. He didn't notice my CCW and I said nothing and I carried it onboard.

That was a year ago, so something changed, especially if they are "logging" it down.

The USS Midway Museum owns the ship, and the museum is a privately-owned. The Navy owned the decommissioned USS Midway until 2003 when it was donated to the 501(c)3 non-profit that was known as the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum. It opened as the USS Midway Museum in June 2004.

When you stand at one end of that hangar deck and look around, and realize, this ship was done without the aid of CAD, that is impressive to me. Nothing to do with CCW, but once upon a time, this nation made stuff that others could not (in some cases, still can't).

LEO are logged in for reasons I can not disclose but just a CCW is not allowed on board. I should know I work on the security team there.

Technically it's still owned by the Navy not to get in to tiny details.
