first of all your only 23... how do you "forget" about actually being charged with a burglary? I'm 28 and I remember all my dumb @$$ tickets for thinking I was a street racer when I was like 16-18... and many of those are fix it tickets... let alone being charged... I think your outta luck... I mean you can appeal... how does something like that slip your mind..

Wow, a total lack of support. OP, contact an attorney that knows the deal. He has first hand knowledge of the situation in Sac and can give you a real view of your chances. See the sticky at the top of this forum: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=394414

thanks eddie for stopping by. I don't know why it slipped my mind.I sat down one day with my application in hand and filled it out with everything I could remeber in the past. Now that I am thinking I remember I was sitting at home my door bell rings and my friends are standing there with a bunch of crap. Next thing cops are at my door and I got charged and sent to juvi for a couple of days. I never lefted my house. Does anyone know if the appeal process goes in dept with cases?

So the thought on gun rights here is they should be denied at the slightest hint of problems? He was charged with a burglary at 16. He is now an adult with a family and asking for advice on a gun rights site. Instead of the harsh reception, he should have received a welcome and an explanation on how to appeal.

You know, you could always appeal it... I mean I sell insurance and I see people get declined for leaving stuff off apps all the time. sometimes all they need is a little explanation... Think of it like this.... if you appeal it and you fail all you loose is an hour.... but if you dont appeal you'll never know... give it a shot

NP. Good luck. If you get denied again just keep your nose clean and try again in a few years. Heck, Adam may tell you to wait a while right out of the gate. Either way 30 minutes of his time will get you far better advice than I or the others could offer.

So were you convicted of the burglary or just charged? I was implicated in a burglary at 15. Detectives showed up at my home asked a few questions and asked to fingerprint me. I refused and called our attorney. I was called again by the detectives and asked to come down to the station and get fingerprinted. According to the detective the statement I gave didn't match that of my friend. I reviewed the statements and the only thing that didn't match was a few of the times. Good luck.

Just a guess, but I believe the reception here has more to do with him omitting the information than it does peoples opinion of who should, or should not get a CCW.

THis is why it is important to be sure of your application before submitting it. I even got a DMV printout just to be sure of my traffic violations. THe issue is not the charge itself, but the fact that it was not put on the app. They are trying to establish your character, and regardless of why you didnt divulge the info, they no doubt used it as a reason to deny you.

the issue i see is "integrity" , the interviewer most likely felt that the omission a crime that was charged just 7 years ago was enough to decline the LTC , by his own words

thanks for the response jeepers. I listed EVERYTHING else but that... don't know why it slipped out of my mind.
none of us here except the O/P knows what "everything else" is and the issuing dept felt that the omission alone was enough to warrant a denial , i personally would appeal it as the O/P has nothing to lose by doing so , but dont think it will help .....

I appreciate your gratitude pbchief. I live in south sacramento in a pretty bad neighborhood and with cops getting laid off it gave me the idea to apply for ccw. Its what I can afford right now. All I wanted was help on what to do. I been going on this site for some time now. I bought my frist handgun from a fellow cal gun member. I will do what you and JB said. I think I called that attoney yesterday. I gave his secratary my info and I am currently waiting on his call.

well pbchief they sent me to juvi and I went to court. I did like 2 or 3 days in juvi. I am not sure if its charged or convicted. I told the cops I was at home the whole time but they took me in.
