I don't know why background is taking so long. They said mine went into background on Aug 1st and it is still in background. I have the cleanest background you can have. I guess not a big deal, I'm not planning a trip to AZ or NV for another month or so.

Requested app 8/15 at 11pm and received response 8/16 10am. Here are responses re Hunters Safety cert and "non-resident permit"

What will you be using as proof of firearms training? We will send an application packet out to you in the mail. Thank you.

All documentation is subject to supervisory review and approval, but the hunter's safety certificate should suffice as proof of firearms training. We only have one permit - we do not differentiate between resident and non-resident. Thank you.

Do I need a CCW to carry concealed as a Non Resident of California in AZ. I know they allow CCW without permits, but I am not sure if this apply's to non-residents....

          My timeline:

--Sent in the application on July 19
--Received permit on August 15, dated August 12

I decided to optimize my efforts in regards to out of state permits. I got my FL permit using my Front Sight 4-Day Defensive HG completion cert. As soon as FL came in, I used it to get AZ, since they don't accept FS for training directly. It's nice to have NV without having to go through the in-state training, etc.

Things seem to have slowed down with AZ. A few months ago, it seemed like a 1 or 2 week turn-around. Now it's looking like 4 or 5 weeks. My timeline: Sent in application on June 30, received permit Aug 8th or 9th.

However, it beats the 3.5 months it took to get my CA carry license in Sac County ... and I understand people are waiting 6 months to get their appointments in Sacramento now.

Permit showed up in the mail today!

Now here is what my national map looks like:

Oh the sick irony of my home state all in red. It's truly ridiculous.

I requested my info yesterday. Any Sacramento folks ablr to tell me if the livescan locations also do basic fingerprinting? I want to return the AZ application as soon as I can.

I got my ink fingerprints done at the Marconi Sheriff's Community Serivce Station (Marconi and FUlton). Cost $5 per card $10 total. They also have the live scan there as well although they have two different people that do the livescan and the ink.

I just called AZ DPS to check the status of my application. They said it had not even been entered in the system yet and I mailed it in over one month ago! They said they are running six weeks behind!
