So whats the procedure to obtain a non-resident CCW in Nevada, and how much did it cost? NV is about the only state I ever travel to outside of CA so I'd like to get the permit.
Proudly nestled all snugly and warm in Hillary's basket. She even made room for my bibles and guns!

Link to Washoe County's CCW Info page w/ a list of instructors, the application, fees, etc: http://www.washoesheriff.com/records...ed-weapons.htm

It's really simple. Take the class, live fire qual w/ the guns you want on the permit, fill out the app, drop it off at the Sheriff's office, pay the fees, Livescan prints. Check your mailbox a few months later.

This sums it up well. One day at class and the range, the next day go to sheriffs office and get printed and hand in your paperwork. There are a number of instructors in the Reno area if you are thinking northern Nevada.

I used Kevin Roth and was pleased with the class. Half the day was at the range, half in class.

Arms To Bear offers amenities few other ccw instructors in the area can offer, like the classroom & shooting range in the same location. A Digital firearms/tactical training simulator available for skill builder drills and shoot/no shoot scenario's to name just a few! Located in Reno, Nevada and Klamath Falls, Oregon

I went through this company for my inital class, great instructors. One is retired Reno PD, the other is retired Washoe County deputy. http://www.sierrafirearms.com/

I did my renewal through Armed and Safe, night and day compared to Sierra Firearms Academy. The instructor spit out a lot of bad info. Their RSO at the live fire qual dealt with a safety issue in the most unprofessional manner I've ever seen. Started yelling at and berating the student. It was lame. The only positive to Armed and Safe is they have midweek classes which works perfect for my goofy days off.

US Firearms Academy is a FFL in Reno, they offer CCW classes as well. I went through a week long Instructor Development course with one of their lead instructors, good dude. I have some friends that have went through their CCW training with USFA, all had positive things to say. http://www.usfirearmsacademy.com/

The Washoe County is a good one. A lot like a drivers license. The photo is very clear. Built well, thick clear covering for protection. Should take a beating and still hold up well.

To get a NV permit contact...Kelly and Allen at Armed and Safe in Reno (775) 560-2741 www.ARMEDANDSAFE.com Check out their website for class dates.
$60 gets you NV class. $25 more and you can get signed off for UT and FL which will allow you to carry in about 30 states. Also the training certificate you get will be recognized for a OR ccw.

They recommend CA residents try and take a weekday class since you have to turn your application into the sheriffs dept in person. The weekday class will let out in time for you to drive over and submit the paperwork.
Keep in mind If you get stopped by a game warden or other LEO and you say "well so and so on CalGuns said that this was ok and legal" That warden or LEO is gonna laugh at you and cite you.
Advice here is mostly good advice but its best to familiarize yourself with the laws & if needed contact DFW. or local Law Enforcement

Always confirm it for yourself. Ignorance is no excuse.

Anyone have experience with KSA Firearm Training in Carson City? I'm headed up there in the next couple of weeks to complement my Utah/Fl permits.
