Carrying in San Francisco. Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I have to travel into San Francisco later this month to work on-site for a few days. I realize that me holding a valid California CCW permit automatically makes me public enemy #1 to the local politicos.

Does anyone have experience with carrying in SF and dealing with the local PD in regards to traffic stops and disclosing your CCW status? I'm curious to know what the sentiment is like. Thanks so much in advance.

Don’t get pulled over would be good. I was there last summer. No issues as long as you don’t draw attention to yourself.

Unless your driving crazy/being an ******* you have zero chance of dealing with police, I haven’t been pulled over in 15 years the big cities in the Bay Area are under staffed and have plenty of real crime to deal with

I live in Sacramento, close to SF, years ago it used to be cool to go the city, now I avoid it like the plague

Jesus Christ. I go to SF from time to time... was just there tonight. I CCW there with standard cap mags. If you are going to train to carry, then carry.

I work on houses in Pacific Heights for anti gun advocates and I carry. I worked across the street from Pelosi, seeing the Black SUV's and I'm carrying. Why think that you are criminal when you have a legal permit to CCW. Get real.

SF is issuing CCWs so the cops shouldn?t be a problem.

As long as you aren?t stealing things with a value over $950 you should be okay. If the cops stop you just take a crap on the street and they?ll let you go.

So you don't carry the 20+ year old Black Talons, or Hornady TAP ammo.

The list of banned hollow points has never been expanded or updated since it was written.

I've yet to find anyone who was ever cited for this city ordinance. Nearly everyone I knew as SFPD has retired, but to a one they all said they had much better things to do than enforce any city ordinance.

My IA gave the ok for Freedom Week mags.. in writing. A cop friend told me SF excludes CCW holders from the 10 round restriction. I haven't independently verified that, but I would rather be prepared for multiple armed attackers than not. I've been pulled over in Marin with 16 rounds loaded on my belt, told him I had my CCW, he did not care.

This is FUD. Read the ordinance. JHP is not banned. Someone above mentioned the ammo that?s restricted, but it?s definitely not all JHP.
