Stop letting the "IA" and any government entity for that matter think for you, what possible reason do you have to show them anything if you don't even have the gun with you? Just use some common sense. The reason cops might want to see the CCW permit is so they don't get surprised when they find you're packing.

Do you need to show cops CCW even when not carrying?

My IA requires that we inform officers that we are carrying only when carrying and its a formal contract...
If I'm just just taking to a officer then I'm not required to.
I do a lot of volunteering in my city. I know a few community officers and talked to them about their options on people with ccws..
All of them like the idea of a good guys having a gun .
They are aware that I carry...
I have no problem with good cops knowing I carry...Comment

Concealed Carry Weapons Permit Terms of Use Agreement
Any of the following or similar acts shall be considered a violation. LASD will suspend
the license and not until a thorough investigation of any said violation, will a
determination be made as to whether the license will be reinstated.
7. Regardless of whether I am carrying a firearm, when contacted by ANY law
enforcement officer, I shall advise them that I am a CCW holder.Comment

For Santa Clara County,
I asked the officer who was processing my license whether I have the ?duty to inform if I am not carrying?, and he said ?no?. But he added it is a good idea to inform, and give the LE the opportunity to log CCW holder interaction. He thought about it for a minute why gave this answer, and he could not come up with a good reason why it is a good idea. But he said there is definitely no harm in informing. Just sharing.
I have not decided what. I would do. But I am leaning informing on every interaction. LE has all my records at this point.Comment

Maybe, but since there were like eight of them, I would've had to take out a loan to pay the tab.
When I was in the fire service locally, we would be involved in some of their training drills for active shooter response. It was really interesting to watch them work a scenario.

The Supreme Court has already ruled that "shall not be infringed" is implied in every amendment...
I don't necessarily agree with that stance, I feel like the founding fathers put it in there to set the second apart from the others as being more important, but that's not current case law.
I think the original intent was to allow the private citizen to have equal weaponry of the Federal Government.
That being said... I don't want my neighbor owning a tactical nuke... do you?
The line has to be drawn somewhere... and it's well before "tactical nuke".Originally posted by Alan GuraThe Second Amendment now applies to state and local governments. No, I don't. Why would I? Unless they specifically asked for it for some reason. "Weapons in the vehicle?" No sir. I do not say, not today but I have a CCW. I drive a truck and get inspected and have direct interaction with CHP pretty often at weigh stations etc. IF I am carrying I let the officer know, even if only at the weigh station, My AI "suggests" I go ahead and inform at the weigh station as well, In the past when I was carrying I would tell the officer, I have a CCW and my IA requests I let you know, They usually say, ok, that's fine, I ask if they need to see my permit along with my driver's license and truck insurance at inspection stop and they always say, nope, just your driver's license and it is not mentioned again, They do not seem to care or be concerned. Not like I am being pulled over for some violation or suspected of some illegal activity at the weigh station, Usually just having me pull to the side for being overweight and writing my company a ticket. I have not been carrying in the rig for quite a while, the company I mostly drive for had no policy in orientations, training or in the employee handbook on the subject so I carried. But one year they brought it up and said no one is permitted to carry on company property or in company vehicles so that sucks but that is the way it goes, I could carry, they would not know, but then I would have to break my AI's rules. For one I would have to NOT inform the officer at the weigh station I am carrying because if I did then that might end up as a note on the ticket that I have to give to my company, even if my truck gets inspected and passes with flying colors, no violations, the chp still prints out an inspection report that I am required to pass on to my company, and if the officer puts a note on there mentioning my CCW, I would be fired. It happens all the time. But if you want to know for sure, Just email or call your Sheriff or PD, whoever you got your CCW through, and just ask, they will tell you what they want you to do, I assume they will say it is not required. Even the officer might be confused as to why you are telling him you have a CCW when you have no gun on you or in your vehicle.https://thedeplorablepatriot.com/

I wish I lived next to a guy wealthy enough to own a nuke, That would be a pretty wealthy street. And I would trust my neighbor far more than I trust the mentally deteriorated guy in charge of all our nukes right now.The Supreme Court has already ruled that "shall not be infringed" is implied in every amendment...

in my county i have to disclose i am a ccw holder, even if i am not carrying during 'any official police interaction'. the sheriff deputy i talked to when i picked my permit up said that when they run my info, they will already know i have a ccw permit, so it's best to just show them up front.Comment
