Traffic Violations - where to get?

The CCW application (in Santa Clara at least) requires listing all Traffic Violations in past 5 years. I don't have many, but I'm sure I'd forget one, and don't keep a database of citation numbers etc.

Would I be correct in assuming a drivers record request from DMV would provide the required information?

    Thanks

Moving infractions convictions. And accidents in AC.

You can check online for $2

If you have any out of state, they will probably find those as well.

When I did my initial app back in 14/15 they found one from Hi from 6 years prior that I had completely forgotten about. I contacted Honolulu PD and got what I needed. I provided the info that showed the fine was paid and my IA was good with it.

CA DMV request, as well as searching yourself in the County Court records of where you may have gotten a ticket.

That's hilarious. That took the longest for me to find too. The DMV search for $2 did not contain all the information I needed on the application.
For example, here is what you get: VIOL/DT CONV/DT SEC/VIOL DKT/NO DISP COURT VEH/LIC
You get violation date, conviction date, etc. What is missing? The actual citation #.
Fortunately, I found that info on the email receipt when I paid.
Same for the out-of-state traffic violation.

I kept things like the DMV printout on a folder for my interview. That way, if my record was questioned, I had documentation for the info I submitted. Did it come in handy? No. But I felt better doing it, just in case. They also had record of a few citations beyond the initial request, but that wasn't significant in my case. One citation happened in Santa Barbara when I deployed overseas, so their process clearly isn't perfect. My investigator seemed to be aware that there can be issues on their end.

Just wait until your interview. They’ll tell you if one is missing in your application when they run your license.

Happened to me in San Diego.

I dont know if Santa Clara has it but here in Ventura county we have a database with our prior tickets.

                This may work.

So they assume you could be more prone to road rage ?

So I just did that - the report contained no useful info expect a description of me and my DL#

Pretty sure I've had some speeding tickets in the past N years.

Just saw this on DMV page about records request

So does that mean no traffic violation info available anymore ?

Thanks - that looked promising, but won't let me search - need to login first perhaps

Frankly, I'm not convinced it matters as long as you can justify what you document. For example, if you forget a speeding ticket 4 years ago, but you can demonstrate that you went to a government source and printed results, and put down the relevant info, then I'd expect things would be okay.

In my interview, the investigator asked me about a few infractions that were outside the requested timeframe. Some rang a bell, another was 20 years ago. 1 happened while I was on deployment in Iraq. It seemed like we was largely looking for my response than the justification.

In my experience, which is not vast, they are interested in the honest effort. Of course, this can vary with IA.

they're trying to see if you're a dork that's going to run around for them over some stupid speeding ticket from 5 years ago
