I renewed my OC CCW a year ago, and there were no issues continuing to list my Gen4 G26 SSE that's been on my permit for the past eleven years.

Why not just buy a real Sig 320 and avoid all that..

My shield on ccw was SSE. Two years ago when I went to pick up renewal, the lady put xxx on caliber. I asked her why if my previous permit showed 9mm. She went back and corrected.

This year I added my VP9 which was SSE and the IA left the shield at 9mm but included ?8888? under caliber for the vp9. I didn?t want to rock to boat and just left it as is. I don?t plan on carrying that one at all now. Oh well. the shield is my go to for the past 8 years anyways.

The OP (3 years ago when this was a fresh and less understood issue) was confused about who was doing it and just said DOJ. But for many people who don't geek out on this stuff like we do, DOJ just generically means Law Enforcement.

The CA DOJ maintains a firearms registry and that registry is being used to deny the carry of weapons listed as single shot in that registry. Also it has been inferred in other threads that DOJ is the one pressuring IAs to adopt this policy against the carry of guns listed as single shot. It is unlikely these IAs all dreamed this policy up independently.

So in my opinion, yes the CA DOJ has hands in this. Technically DOJ may not be doing it, but practically they are. And for purposes of this thread (and more importantly for the persons affected by it) the technical difference doesn't matter. The only way to fix it is to fix the listing in AFIS or choose another gun to carry.

so we can fix all this in AFIS ourselves then? Free right? I have two SSE on these so I would like to fix it

Thanks man! I'm back to confirm my Franklin Armory CA320 was successfully listed as 9mm with no restrictions on my renewal as well, in Orange County at least. I went down a wild goose chase first reaching out to OCSD CCW dept with their answer being "Ask the instructor you'll be qualifying with if you can add Single Shot firearms, they'd know best."...

So then when I reached out to "Civilian Arms Training" just up the street with me, owner Tim responded with "OCSD will only accept the pistol as manufactured from factory, no altercations or modifications allowed to the action.." and wouldn't allow it in fear of "getting yanked"..

So I continued my research and decided to renew with Lance Boland and Chris over at FAST OC, and boy am I glad I went that direction.. Best training in the city and not a single question arose from officially listing my CA320 as is.

Thanks to everyone who helped me out and I hope this helps anyone else looking to successfully add their Single Shot firearms to their OC CCW!

^ happy for your success! Does this mean OC allowed you to list as single shot? I'm in the Bay and my county's site explicitly states they don't allow single shot. Same CA320.

Can't find a pawnshop nearby that is FFL or a 'friend' to PPT. I think I may have to try the CFARS update method mentioned here. Has anyone else had success with this method? I can only find the DannyH2 success story in other thread.
