Any Problems With Using/Displaying CCW at the Range?

If I am going to be shooting my carry gun at the range I don't holster or conceal it. I bring it in my range bag and proceed from there. It isn't anybodies business that I am a CCW holder and I don't want them to know.

Agreed. One of the life rules- Don't tell anybody anything they don't need to know.

How about this question: RO asks to see your LTC, because you asked to draw and fire from concealed...and are currently armed (he doesn't know). Do you?

I don't. I tell him it's hot and go into the range to unload. But last time it was crowded so he told me to find a quiet corner of the shop, so I went in the women's bathroom.

What's stopping you from introducing yourself to the Rangemaster and chatting him up about it? Good info here, but know none of it is your range's deal until you chat with them. G/L.

I guess I'm not really focusing the majority of the question on whether the range let's you take it out of concealment to place on the table and use to practice.....

I'm more focusing on the act of bringing the firearm out of concealment and then later reholstering WITH THE PUBLIC AROUND.

That is more the part that has me asking. I think I'll do as 'Big Jake" said above and put it in the range bag.

Call and ask them. Most outdoor ranges I know of are cold ranges. All the indoor ranges, so far I have used, are okay with pulling the gun once and putting it back once at the end.

The indoor I frequent just says be smart about unholstering and put the gun on the bench. Do your thing and reholster when done.

The only thing most ranges don't want, is "holster draw" shooting.

At my range you notify them when you check in. They notify the Range Safety Officer that you are coming in carrying.

Then un-holster at bench in front of Range Safety Officer, keeping muzzle downrange.

Ok, so I'm the thread OP and just called On Target Range to verify how THEY handle concealed carry.

** They said no need to inform the desk of CCW carry. Just unholster at the shooting bench, practice as normal, and reholster as desired when finished.**

(Obviously if one doesn't want others to view, one could just put it in the range bag before and after.)

My range let's us draw from a holster is signed off on. First range I've had let me (indoor).

every controlled range that i have used.......it is posted at the entrance......no loaded firearms beyond this point. that is a common range rule, and common sense........

Some ranges in the Sacramento area have signs on the doors indicating no loaded firearms beyond the threshold. I have asked at each, and the rule is not applied to CCW carriers; just to weapons in the range bags.

I carry on the right side at about 3:30. When I want to fire the CCW on my body at the range, I move into the shooting point, turn my right side into the bench and remove the pistol, placing it on the bench. Then, I use it as I would any other gun on the bench.

When I'm done, I reload the gun, turn into the bench, and reholster.

If you can't get the sticky holster in place or can't otherwise reholster your weapon on the range, then reload it, put it in the bag and take it to the men's room.
