I thought you could get it done at the sheriffs office. Price should be similar just about everywhere.

We're fortunate in San Benito - no investment (other than $150 for psychologist) until you're approved. Livescan was done at the local jail.

In Riverside County they give you a list of authorized locations which are all Sheriff's offices. Cost was $10.
