    Security CCW "encounter"

    Howdy:

At the last minute, a friend called me last night asking if I wanted to go to the LA Angels vs the Arizona Diamondbacks? Since he was right around the corner from my Orange office I told him I'd drive since he had the tickets/preferred parking. His wife had to cancel at the last minute thus the invite to me.

We were running late (game started at 7:05) and off we went to the Stadium. As we were exiting my car I said Oh SxxT, I had my Kahr P380 in
an OWB holster. Not knowing whether a firearm is allowed in Angel stadium, I removed my Kahr (OWB), unloaded it and placed it in a Nano Gunvault. My friend was in a hurry to get to the gate. Game already started but as you know we had to go through gate SECURITY.

You know the drill, cell phones and keys in the container and as I walked through the TSA security enclosure, a loud noise sounded. Oh brother, besides my belt, I still had my spare mag in a Snagmag concealed magazine "holster" plus my empty OWB holster. The security guard requested I raise my arms outstretched and commenced using his wand. Beep beep beep when the wand "covered" (wearing non tucked in T-shirt) my spare mag (SnagMag) "holster", my empty holster (Richie Gun Leather) plus my gun belt (A Better Belt USA). He gave me this look and asked why the mag/holster? I was about to answer him when he turned and called his SUPERVISOR. The supervisor asked me the same question and I said I didn't know if Angel stadium allowed firearms thus to be cautious, I left it in my vehicle, locked up! He then asked about the mag and let him know in CA we are only allowed 10 rounds in a magazine, my CCW firearm (no mention of GUN) only holds 6 rounds in the magazine thus I always carry a spare magazine. Truthfully we (my friend was) was in a hurry and forgot I was carrying my spare mag (one does forget you are carrying a spare mag in a SnagMag because it feels like a pocket knife, looks like one when "holstered" in your front jeans pocket).

He was about to say something about my spare magazine but before he could ask another question I said "the magazine is like a car without gas. It isn't going anywhere until there's gas in the tank". Another "look" said OK and we found our seats. We watched the Diamondbacks beat the Angels 7-3. It wasn't much of a game and was a no-hitter until the bottom of the 6th when the Angels finally got a single. Scored three runs late in the game but to no avail!

Sounds like you got a routine treatment, with the bene of letting the magazine in - some folks won't, even though you correctly explained its significance.

And, as of this season, 'major league baseball' has ruled no guns, knives, or common sense at MLB games.

But plenty of beer on free bat night!

OP - glad you didn't get too much hassle. Sounds like you handled the situation well.

The founding fathers did a wonderful thing when they included the second amendment to the constitution...

Why? Does he carry concealed in it?

It's the NFL that has the silly restrictions on the size of carry-in bags, and the 'clear plastic' construction.

MLB (clearly that pic shows baseball, presumably Red Sox) has not adopted that. Yet.

I guess Matt has reportedly admitted to CCW'ing.... though not really a 2nd amendment supporter....
