Was there progress on my application? On Permitium > Order Progress Tracker now says "order pending..." I believe the status was "will be assigned" (?).

You can't call. No one answers and the mailbox has literally been full since 2022. You can email but you will never hear back. Show up in person like I did today so you can be told to wait by a desk jockey who's been instructed to shoo us all away.

The CCW division voicemail is full, and the phone is never picked up, but the main sheriff's office isn't I called the main sheriff's office phone number a few days ago to get an update.

Someone at the front desk will pick up your call, and you can ask them about an update of the CCW. Hopefully if enough people call, they will put the CCWs higher up on their priority

I know my family friend is waiting for his CCW renewal appointment to be scheduled. He received the same email I got a few minutes apart about 2 weeks ago.

Well, after many of the stories I?ve read above I still feel pretty damned fortunate to be on the doorstep however long it takes to walk through from here..trying to just stay positive and let it play out.

After paying final fees on the 30th I received an email that SCSO would email me within two weeks to schedule a date to pick up my CCW license.

Did you ever end up getting an appointment scheduled for pickup? I'm about to reach the 2 week mark from when they emailed me, and haven't heard anything yet.

It seems you've done everything you're supposed to do and now it's coming up on 5 months (as well as anybody else).

If only you could now carry, in the spirit of the law, from now on, or since 90 days since application. It's all so annoying, not to mention the monetary costs involved, too.

So I stopped by the sheriffs office today. The deputy at the desk would not connect me to or contact Sergeant Davis. Asked me if my visit was about CCW and I said yes that I?m looking for an update since I haven?t heard anything in nearly 2 months. He reiterated what a poster above said that they are extremely backlogged and there?s nothing they could do about it other than to just wait. He told me to call the phone line, and then we both had a good laugh together at the fact that the voicemail box has been full all year.

The conclusion is this. Either sit tight and wait with no idea what is going on or hire an attorney to pursue the sheriffs department.

It certainly makes you wonder what the F was the point of having those "interview clinics" back in April to help clear their application/interview backlog was? They magically had staff available for that circus then suddenly nothing more?

You forget the cost of maintaining the CCW as well.

$269 renewal (every 2Y), Insurance Cost (monthly or annually), Renewal Class Fee (every 2Y).

It'll probably cost ~$400/year just to maintain it.

Ugh..

I do already have insurance. I've had a CCW for several other states for quite some time.

I do want to add that I chose Saber Tactics for the class instruction. Great bunch of people and their classes are top notch.

Something I didn't really want to think about is the complete cost for this adventure. When I am ever finished, I will be at $997. Damn...

Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets attention. I bet if many of us called say every 2 weeks and politely asked for an update that they'll get tired of answering the same question. After all, they dragged their feet (and the sheriff padding her wallet) for decades so time for them to shift some resources for a few months. I'm more afraid of another law or politician playing games and throwing out all our applications.
