Awesome!! I'm in March. Maybe I need to look for training classes now...

Any recommendations for classes in the Stockton/Lodi area?

So the little Oldman doing the livescan told me not to check back for 6-8 months... I applied 11-02-2015..... curious if anyone has called before this time period to see if their application would be expedited? They told me when I applied that they are taking a little under a year to process apps, compared to what the previous processing times were taking.

They will contact you when your time has come and I wouldn't expect anything sooner then 8 months unless something changes. Seems like the normal wait is right around 1 year maybe a touch less. If you check back in here frequently you can find out what month they are processing currently. They are working on February applications right now so you have a long wait my friend.

I'm going on 9 months now and hopefully they will be on March 2015 applications sometime in January or February (considering the holidays and all that).

I don't think calling does anything other than annoy the deputy/person that answers the phone since she probably gets these phone calls everyday.

Going in for first interview on Jan. 4th. Will personal protection still a good cause for CCW?

You might read my post #2445 also for some other info on 'my particular interview'.

Application is still in process, but I only have put my .45 on my carry list. I just bought a 9 mm
should I call and have them add this to my carry list? Or do I need to go down in person or just wait and see if I get approval for my ccw? I most likely won't hear anything until this next summer

They will just tell you to wait for the inspector to call you and ask if anything has changed. Also the weapons you qualified with is more important than the weapons you listed.

Pretty much like "3" said. You state that you purchased the gun but you did not specify if it was a new or used gun. The day I picked up my CCW, 3 of the 4/5 people picking them up had issues with gun registration of some sort.

At least one of the gentlemen had listed the gun in question on his original application the year prior but for whatever reason, when the investigator checked that morning before issuing the CCW, the gun was not registered in his name. If I remember correctly, he purchased the gun in the 70's or 80's.

Another guy had recently purchased a new gun and when the investigator ran the serial it was not in his name. He was told he could wait and pick-up the CCW when that gun's registration had been processed or he could take the CCW with the other one or two guns he had listed. He was told that when the registration issue resolves, he could go back to the Sheriff and they will give him another CCW with that gun added but he will have to pay $10.00.

And I heard of one other issue where a new gun was purchased, but the serial number in the database did not match the gun or something like that.

Each of the issues I witnessed were handled professionally by the staff but if there is any question at all, I would suggest contacting an investigator sooner than later if your registration issue requires you to file any paperwork. If it is a new purchase, that is all computerized and should be OK but your mileage may vary.

Another stoopid question. Is San Joaquin Sheriff accepting sse guns for the application to date?

I don't believe personal finances are a major part to define good moral character. I think they know unfortunate things happen. We had to file BK due to my wife losing her job (was last resort). We were told to include that information on our application. Just be upfront with information to be safe (that's what we were told).

Got the phone call on Dec. 24th with the approval and to take the class.
