Just a summary of my experience. In July it will be a two year journey! Yikes.
7/2022 Called for appointment
9/2022 Appt to turn in application
10/2022 Interview with CID
4/2023 Livescan
5/2023 Letter for psych eval
7/2023 I think psych was around here.
11/2023 Hold up in my application because of an incident in 2014.
2/2024 No word, I followed up myself for an answer.
2/2024 SFPD called back and said they would put my app through and the next step is firearms training
2/2024 Received letter that cleared me for the next step (firearms training)
4/2024 Firearms training with Saber Tactics (Thanks, Ephraim and Nicholas, Vincent? and Pat?)
5/2024 Emailed Proficiency and Qualification Certificate to SFPD.
Now waiting for Chief to get around to signing or final review. I still owe Livescan and it's either Cashier's check or MO (101.00?). I'll need two proof's of residency also. No time to when I can pick up.
So for me two years to the month to complete the process. My application was held up as their was a comment to the color of my folder (it was the old color they had been using). Apparently, newer applicants have another color folder.👍 1Comment

My apologies... I went back and re-read the post. It wasn't the color of the folder that held up my application. I had an "incident" 8-9 years ago they kept questioning me about but it wasn't an arrest . The color of the folder that contained my paperwork, was just an indicator of how old my application actually was. The officer commented that when I had applied they were using blue folders (mine was blue) and now two years on they now use yellow folders. So from the color of the folder the Officer was able to tell that my app had been in the works for a while. .Comment

When I went through the process I started it in July 2023. Did the qualification at the end of December. The longest delay was the psychological report in the process. From the interview to the training approval was about 8 1/2 weeks. Throughout the process the SFPD CCW unit staff were very courteous and professional.
Also, the Saber Tactics guys were great to deal with. It was raining the entire training/qualification session. We had applicants from 3 different counties, but they kept the firing line moving through quickly and efficiently.NRA Life Member

I think Saber Tactics noted it earlier, but I noticed that SFPD has transitioned to Permitium recently...Comment
