We really are the worst, but I guess that's a good thing because it means that Alameda county is going to be the one that's challenged the most.

          Had my interview.

          Polite and professional.

Yes, Alameda is going to limit you to one gun on your license. You can change it by going through some process. So, pick your primary gun accordingly.

Quite a few questions about my residence.

Sounds like this is going to drag out for months.

Glad you got through the first step. Did you get a sense of timing for livescan or psych? It was it vague?

A message from Mark Smith attorney as of 10/10/2022 that (Open Ended Discretion) is unconstitutional. Good Moral + Psychological + References + Qualifications are violations of 2A

Seems to me requiring a CCW of any kind is a violation of 2A...

                  Recently went back to re-qualify.

A few key insights for current and perspective CCW holders

                  1. per my understanding, Currently > 1K backlogged applications. I'll share updated numbers as I learn more
                  2. per a previous post (last year about this time). No major changes to the target/scoring, still out of 250. Happy to share a picture of the blank target for those qualifying, DM directly ..

                  - last year, the order was reversed, starting from the closest to 25 yards out. This was fantastic, as you can see the impact with your first 30 out of 50 shots.
                  - took another personalized training via GunKraft recently. Unequivocally recommend you reach out directly not only for qualification prep, but also targeted lessons if you need them.
(again) Earned > 90% attributed in part to the targeted training for 1 hour.

You can also buy the actual targets used.

Google ACSO target. I ordered a few so I could practice the qual test.

Is it still true if you get over a pre-determined score on the qual you can add a second firearm to your permit?

every 2 years when you re-up your application, you can add additional firearms. Potentially earlier (during yearly qualifications). The process prior was each firearm you need to score > 90%. With the stated, you could only carry one at a time though

While the applications are now consistent across the state, each county has slightly different qualification criteria

I was told may not see any activity until January (new sheriff, etc, etc.). Cannot do anything in advance (they don't want a gap between Livescan and final disposition).

So, may be into next year before I get the license. And I applied as soon as the AG sent out the notice that the "good cause" requirement was stricken.

Might even be longer than that. Those of us who applied the day the Supreme Court ruling was handed down have been told it will take up to a year and a half from now, and we had our interviews a month ago.

I really hope CRPA steps up and starts filing lawsuits against Alameda Co.

The Alameda County Sheriff's office must be shaking in their boots. I just got the "send pictures of your gun storage" request, the latest in a series called "Let's pretend we are working on your CCW application, one email every two months, with bonus excuses!"

I'm sharing because I'd like to keep everyone in the loop just how pathetic the situation is. This is what the cryptic email looks like, with a link to the law saying I'm in trouble if a child gains access to my firearms. It does not, however, stipulate that your guns be locked up. "Negligent storage knowing child is likely to gain access to the firearm" So pictures of storage are required. Weird.

Here it is, got it minutes ago, applied 2 days after the SCOTUS ruling.
I'm sure they'll schedule my interview real soon.
