I emailed Judea Mulder about my interview, as someone here with a 6/30 application submission date has already had their first interview. Having applied on 6/28, I was concerned I missed a communication from ACSO or had been skipped.
I got a response from Judea, and was told that i'll "be interviewed late this quarter or early next quarter of this year".
It's amazing how slow they are, and how ridiculous and excessive their process is. -
Go do a few mock qualifications to establish a baseline with your LC9. It only requires 70% to pass. If you can keep it on target to 15 yards you'll have no trouble qualifying.Leave a comment:

I spoke with Larry today and scheduled for 2/1. I would do it this week but I am out of town. I'm struggling with choosing which gun to qualify with for my permit. It's between my G19 and Ruger LC9. I am more confident I could qualify easily with the Glock but would rather carry the LC9 for better comfort and conceal-ability (yes, I know the ccw is supposed to me "comforting" and not necessarily "comfortable"). I am not confident at 25 yards with the LC9 but I will work on it at the range before the qualification. I also have not been to a range in CA since the new ammo laws passed. I am in NV a several times a year and have been shooting out there ever since. I used to go to Target Masters West but have not found a new range close to home since they have closed.Leave a comment:

I'm set to take the class with Joe/LEO in a few weeks! Talked to Joe on the phone for a bit and he answered all my questions (and also helped me with the proof of registration matter).Leave a comment:

Trigger isn't so bad. I've dry-fired it a bunch when I first got it while just sitting on the couch watching TV and after doing that a few thousand times the trigger has smoothed out noticeably.Leave a comment:

Went to the range this morning to practice. Was in the indoor range and the furthest distance was 17 yards, so all I did was take 17 yard shots in groups of five shots. These were my first five shots with the Shield. Not bad for only shooting a few rounds through the gun when I bought it just to see if it would cycle a few mags of hollow points, then out it back int he safe until today. For the rest of the session kept most of the shots in the 5 zone, with a few strays that went into the 4 zone. Would be nice to score 90% so I could add a seconds handgun, but I also think I read somewhere that for your initial permit you're still only allowed one handgun?
Is ACSO still using this target, or have they switched to a different target?

I initially applied the evening of the Bruen decision.
I usually responded promptly to any emails from ACSO and always tried to schedule any appointments (interview, fingerprinting) and submit any requested documents ASAP.
Passed the psych evaluation last week.
Have my qualification test scheduled for next month with ACSO.
FWIW, ACSO did accept my 16-hour, 2-day California CCW class I took last summer, and did not make me re-take any class. I mentioned that at the time I applied and took the class it was still approved by Alameda County, and they only made the decision to change the rules/requirement well after I applied. They did not give any push back on this and accepted it.
This 16-hour course also allowed me to apply for my CCW in a few other states which I have applied to and already received permits from those states several month ago last year.Last edited by Vinnie Boombatz; 01-23-2023, 5:38 PM.Leave a comment:

Most qualification classes has individual qualifying with > 1 person with multiple firearms. There's time; the bottleneck isnt the instructorsLeave a comment:
